Who's having a Backdrop at their reception behind the head or sweet heart table???

Janine , on February 16, 2012 at 11:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 14

I've been speaking to my linen/decor lady about a Backdrop that I loooove.

I'm wondering what type of pricing is reasonable?! How much did you ladies spend on a backdrop, or have been quoted? What does your vision include? Pros and cons of Backdrops??

I can't think of a con of having one. Some people don't need them, just depending on what is behind the head table. Pricing can vary greatly, depending on how big, how ornate, etc.

I am having one but lucky for me.....I won't have to pay a dime for it. My Uncle has his own furniture business so he buys fabric wholesale so the fabric will be his gift to me. The venue already has pipe hung for draping. So My wedding planner /decorator will be putting up the draping.

I did not have one at our reception because our room layout did not flow with one. Where we bought our wedding invitations, they did offer photo backdrops. We did have double doors at our church so we bought door wedding banners and they were great on the old church doors. I included a pic to a sample photo backdrop here.

We are having on, I am paying my decorator $1055 but that includes alot, she is setting up the backdrop, 10 people table wide, the head table draping, draping 3 pillars, doing a wedding arch for ceremony, ceiling swag and chandelier, an arch over our doorway to the hall. Plus supplying me with 110 chair covers with bows and table runners.

I will be doing my own backdrop behind the head table, cake table and will be doing "something" for a photo shoot wall.. Might do what Laurie C. has. I will be stringing lights up on the wall then putting sheer material to drape over it with pipes rods. My FH will be draping the center of the room out to the edge with black and white fabric. All my tables will be matching the backdrops. I will have white sheer and a black silk draped along ea. side. (cake table will have a zebra print overlay, with white table cloth) For the cermony I will be draping ivy all over the pergola and the sheer down the poles on ea. side. with ferns on the top. I have two columns that will have flower arrangments on the in black, white and red. This will cost me around 300.00 for everything to do this. With my FH and I doing everything ourselves. I have a week to decorate eveything. I told my parents they couldn't rent it out because I have to decorate and it will take me that long to get it done

We're having a photo-booth that comes enclosed with a backdrop but thanks for the info I looove the customization.

The trouble I have understanding is with my linen lady....she's wanting to charge me $1200 JUST for the backdrop. (I attached the picture)

She said a normal backdrop exactly like the one in the picture WITHOUT the crystal curtains- she charges $600....so she's charging double juuust for the crystals.

So I went a searching, and I can BUY crystal curtains 20 ft long by 12 ft tall for $324 including shipping. Annnd at least I can sell it after.

What should I tell her...I can't DIY the backdrop. But maybe offer to purchase the crystals and give her some extra $$ for set up and take down of it???

But I think I'll probably have a hard time selling $330 worth of crystal curtains. Any points I can make to her that will help her in offering this service to other brides and encourage her to buy the crystals and rent them to me for a better rate?

I guess it matters on how bad you want the crystals. A DIY backdrop could be done so very easily with just material instead of using a backdrop stand. Of course, this will depend on the wall your backdrop will be on. I attached a backdrop from a local decorator that might serve the purpose and save you so much money.

My friend had the same idea for her wedding in December. The sweetheart table was adorable, but she wanted to really make the table stand out! She was able to get afforable backdrop from a company she found online called Silver Star Displays. She used one of their pipe and drape systems with drapes and it looked perfect!

Here's a link to their website: http://www.silverstardisplays.com/Wholesale-Pipe-and-Drape.html”>Wholesale Pipe And Drape

We had one and it was about $750 maybe a little more but it included set up, take down and it was lit ...and it was for a two tier head table 4 across the top and then 6 across the bottom ... it really added something to our room though because we had the heater vent behind our headtable and it just didn't look attractive at all ... LOL

It's about 300.00 for 16 feet wide. I have the curtains left over from my wedding if you want to buy them text me at **** I even have extra tool kit of supplies needed to create a designed backdrop I can send with the curtains.

I know what it is like trying to stick to a budget anything is possible fabric can do wonders on any room

I just made this yesterday for my wedding. It’s a backdrop for our dessert table I’m putting together. (Sorry for the table in front of wedding stuff) I’m making all of our wedding decor myself. Centerpieces and all. Definitely takes some time but worth it if you want to save money. I bought everything for the backdrop off of Amazon except for the sheer white curtains I bought at Walmart since they were only $5 each. (I used 5 panels). The entire backdrop cost me about $175. The flower ball centerpiece cost about $35
