Who wears the cake jar

Future Mrs. Wathen, on May 19, 2013 at 4:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I'm wanting to do a "who wears the cake" jar at the reception. For example: one jar with the brides name and one with the grooms and people put in money for who they want to see wear the cake. My question is can anybody think of alternatives to having people put money in for "who wears the cake"? Maybe instead something like "who wears the pants"?

Many families and people in general will find this tacky. My family would find it hilarious so I'm not looking for advice on of its tacky or not. Thanks!

No cake smashing , it is your wedding not a frat party . If you must raise money do a dollar dance

I hope you dont want to actually "wear the cake" cuz you spend so much time as a bride getting all gorgeous, doing your makeup all perfect. Only for it to be ruined by sticky cake smashed in your face, cake down your dress. I dont see why people still find it funny...

If you feel the need to treat your wedding like a fundraiser (which alot of us do feel is tacky, but you dont want advice on that), it doesnt really matter what title you put on it. Do a money dance, guests will atleast get something from that, dancing with the bride or groom.

ETA: Or perhaps do a honeymoon fund jar. There, there's a suggestion.

What if you did a number of jars? Who wears the cake, who cries first... I don't know if you are like me and FH, but people would get a kick out of placing a bet on which one of us trips first since we're both over the top clumsy!

O like the who wears the pants jar. Sounds funny Smiley smile

Ladies she asked for suggestions on what to put on jars. If you don't have s suggestion don't post. Esp after she explicitly stated she didn't care to hear or read "it's tacky" comments.

And remember what you may consider as nice may be tacky to someone else.

If I wore the cake, I would also cry first... and then throw something heavy at someone. I'd pick a dollar dance over putting money in jars for any thing, any day. Also...pants? Aren't some people already wearing pants?

Instead of clinking glasses, you could have guests put $$ in a jar to get you to kiss, bigger the donation = bigger the kiss. Better dancer? I like the cries first one too.

Thanks everybody for the responses and suggestions! I agree with many of yall. I really don't want cake in my face. It would be messy. I also really like the who would fall first...that's funny! And thank you so much Future Mrs. DooPwee for sticking up for me. I posted something like this in the knot's forum. They attacked me for it. It was horrible. So glad everybody is nicer on here! Thanks again.

@Future Mrs. Wathen what wording are you using for this (if you're still doing it)? FH and I will be doing it at our wedding in just 10 days! We are having people use their escort cards to "pick" who wears the cake because we are doing a money dance and I want to see who votes for who Smiley winking But I'm not sure what the best wording would be.
