Who walks MOB down the aisle?

Emily557, on August 18, 2017 at 5:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

My mom and I were recently discussing who will walk her down the aisle. I do not have any close brothers or cousins who are in the wedding party. All of the groomsmen are from my fiances side of the family. I was under the impression that my dad would walk her down and then circle back around for me, but my mom does not like that idea. Are there any other ways we could do this? I would love any and all ideas!

You could walk up with both your parents. Just an idea, though.

You mentioned not having any brothers who are in the WP, but do you have brothers who aren't in the WP? It doesn't need to be someone in the WP. Or does she have a brother (your uncle)?

My brother wasn't in the WP and he still walked my mom in. Or walking with both your parents is an option.

You could walk with your mom and dad down. My brother is a groomsman but will escort my mom down the aisle and then return to the wedding party. If you don't have a brother, maybe the best man? I also think it would be okay if your dad walked with your mom down; I think it's sweet

I agree with Tiffany to let both of them walk you down the aisle. I was actually at a wedding about a month ago and the bride had both her mother and father walk her down and she seemed like the happiest bride to have both of them on each side on her special day.

It's become the norm, in my family/social circle, for both the MOB and FOB to walk with the bride. If either of my parents had been unable to do it, I would have substituted my grandmother and/or sister.

An uncle? As others mentioned... it doesn't have to be someone in the WP. It could honestly be anyone your mother is comfortable with.

We're going to have my brother walk my mom, and he isn't in the wedidng party. Who would your mom want to walk her?

Depends is mother in law single or not. If she's in a relationship and that man is part of the family or really close- she can walk with him. If she's single then is your father single they could walk together. Also mother in law can walk immediately before your FH walks down. You have so many options for real

I was thinking of asking my great uncle, my mom's uncle, to walk her down. He's always been there for us and I love him to pieces and i thought it might be an honor for him.

My FH and I both only have our mom's, we are not having ushers so the groomsmen will each escort our moms down the aisle and then take their place next to FH.

My husband walked down my aunt and his mom and his dad (the BM) walked down my grandma. My older bro wheeled my mom down the aisle (she was supposed to walk me down the aisle but broke her knee a month before the wedding and was in a wheelchair). My DH just double back to walk my aunt after walking his mom. Twas easy.
