who throws the bridal shower and when do u do one?

Usually the brides' mom throws the shower. Since my mom has passed, my aunt and some of my moms' closest friends are planning mine. Of course you can help if you want to! It's all about you! The bridesmaids, specifically the MOH, typically plan your bachelorette party.

Yea my mom isnt in the picture she has so far made everything about her... she ever asked if she could wear a white dress on my wedding day and after i told her no she asked if she could wear a red on or black or pink!!!!! she cant not make a situation about someone else but herself.... so yea who do i have do it now? this whole wedding thing is sum what stressing me out!!!! who does what and what do i do and everything... were not getting any help from our familys so yea!!!!

My best friend and my sister are planning my shower. probably my friend will do most of the planning as my sis lives an hour away. i really don't plan to do anything but show up. lol i MAY end up doing the invitations since i'm good at stuff like that but otherwise i really could care less if i had a shower or not so i don't really plan on doing a whole lot of work for it.

Oh forgot to add they are looking to do the shower about a month before the wedding.

I think my mom, MOH and me will all have a hand in planning it. Since the wedding is in September we are thinking probably the end of July beginning of August. Typically it is 1-3 months beforehand I believe, but i'm not certain.

Well I'll just be d*mned. No sooner than I commented in here did txt msgs start flying back and forth between me, my friend and my sister. I finally just gave them each other's # so they can get together without me. But then I have to come up with the menu. I'm like who's planning this thing? lol

Traditionally the bridal shower is given by anyone other than the bride or MOB. This avoids the appearance of the bride/her family asking for presents. Also traditionally, the BM do throw a shower for the bride, but nowdays with the advent of bachelorette parties (they didn't use to exist just bachelor parties)and how elaborate they've gotten, the BM usually focus their energies/finances on that and leave the shower(s) to the MOG,aunt,family friend, etc. (However, if the BM are young it's not unheard of for the MOB to use the MOH/BM as a front for rsvp's, return address and day-of hosting and plan/pay for the shower on their behalf.)

My MOH is planning mine with a little help from the planners. She was so lost she said.

My FMIL is planning mine since my mom lives out of state. I get married Feb 13 and the shower is Jan 30.

Normally it's the MOH and BMs that give the shower. At least that's how it's been in my family and all of the weddings I've been in and attended as well. But I guess it's whoever would like to give it for you.

Yea im thinking im just going to give all my girls everyones numbers and emails and they can figure out if they and jsut keep me in the loop

My two sisters (matron & maid of honor) are throwing mine with the help of my bridemaids. They are also doing all the planning for the bachelorette weekend.

Usually it's the moh with the bms...depending on how controlling they are, they might just kidnap you or they might ask what you want....

or it's your mom, aunts, sisters, with the bms if they are lame.

Yea im just giving it to them and when they ask for anything im there but its up to them..... i just have enough on my plate with everything.... like my ring which is giving us the most trouble as of right now.... im just trying to get everything in order....
