Who planned their wedding in 8 months or less?

It seems that most brides on WW have 14+ month engagements. FH and I are planning one in eight months, but it's for ~65 of our family and closest friends, which we think will make things easier. For those of you on shorter timelines, do you regret it? Why did you choose a shorter engagement?

We're doing 7 months for over 200 guests BUT it's at my parents' church (where I grew up) in a very small town so the venue was free, the decorations will be wildflowers and the majority is DIY (pretty simple). Due to the denomination of the church, there will be no dancing so no need for DJ and no alcohol. I'm not against either of those things personally but a free venue is a free venue. We chose due to some of my bridesmaids being in grad school and that being the most convenient for them (they didn't ask, I just know how it is) and my mom is super woman and just retired and BEGGED to help. You can do it! I didn't want a long engagement anyway because I'm just ready to be his wife and it's long enough already! Smiley smile

We had just over 8 months and it was way longer than I would have liked--I had most of it planned in the first two months, then dropped invitations in the mail at the appropriate time, then finished things up in the last 6 weeks. Organization is your friend. It doesn't have to take very long.

I wish mine had been more like, 8 months. That was our plan. Then a deployment messed that up. So we'll have been engaged for 16 months.

We're planning ours in 9 months with 200 guests - 6 months left, yikes! We were engaged in late spring, but didn't start planning till August. We didn't want to marry in the summer, so it was either spring or fall of 2016, but we also felt fall would be too late, lol! So far, we're plugging away. We're doing the majority of planning ourselves and have Day-of coordinators to help everything run smoothly on our big day. Right now, it's been a little rough meeting different vendors nearly every single day after work. (It's really more like 2-3 times a week, but still...) There's a lot of emailing and calling, too. I feel very lucky that my FH has been very involved with decision making, even if he doesn't get as excited about flowers as I do, lol!

We started planning at 8 months out. It's just how it happened. We had a long 5 year engagement due to not being able to afford the wedding we wanted. This last April decided we finally had the savings to start and set a date. Here we are....about 40 days left

DH and were together 4 years before we got engaged in April. Started planning in June (mostly because we were sick of everyone asking us when the wedding was when they found out we were engaged) and got married earlier this month! So technically I guess we planned a wedding for 125 guests in 4 months. It was perfect. I'm really glad I didn't have more time because I'm a chronic overthinker. Having such a short turnaround time meant I had to actually make decisions and then (gasp) stick to them. We spent more than I thought we would, but I'm not sure if we would have spent more or less with a longer engagement. Honestly, it was all a little too easy. So easy that I did get a little stressed at the end just because it felt like I MUST be forgetting something really important. Nope. Super married. Super awesome.

For me, the engagement was a total surprise and the wedding was just a formality. I already felt married I guess just in the way you "know" this is who you want to spend forever with. I'm glad we did it. The wedding was a blast. It's really nice to say "my husband" instead of "my boyfriend" or the very short lived "my fiancé". I wouldn't have had it any other way.
