WHO pays for the TUX?

My thought was bridesmaids paid for their dresses, and groomsmen paid for their tuxes.

When my FH was in his sister's wedding he paid for his rented tux. To be honest I really don't know what is Proper etiquette on this.

My fiance seems to think that it is his responsibility to pay for the groomsmen, but I couldn't disagree more. When you agree to be in the wedding party, you should expect that there will be certain things you will pay for. It is one thing if you were requiring them to rent a specific tux that cost $300. However, if you are being reasonable than I see no reason for you to pay for the tux. I just have to talk my fiance into thinking that as well..

No it's common for the groomsmen to pay for their attire the same as it is for the bridesmaids to pay for theirs.

But keep in mind that limiting your bridal party will save you money in other ways...like less boutineres/bouquets, less bridal party gifts, less rehearsal dinner expense, etc..

I agree. Groomsmen pay for the tuxes. And lots of tux shops have a deal where the groomsmen pay for 4 tuxes and the groom's tux is free.

EQUAL RIGHTS LOL Have the groomsmen pay for their tux. You could negotiate with a companythat sells tuxs to have a deal for all your grooms men to by them there. Here it costs less to buy a suit ($100) than to rent one ($150). Thats one option or choose a suit that isnt too expensive. Also, no need to have bridesmaids cut off. You could have one groomsmen escort two ladies... it doesnt look bad ;o)

Its true what Laura K mentioned but then again those areas can be more negotiable... You get groomsmen and bridesmaids and you dont pay anything for them. Then you host the rehersal at a friends house or your backyard. no need for boutineres, or make some simple ones yourself. bouquets, a single long stem flower looks good and makes your bouquet stand out more. Bridal party is usually hostby someone else, like a close relative. so on....
