I searched and there only seemed to be one discussion on this, and no one seemed to agree.

So I'll ask a bit differently,

1) If your FG isn't your own daughter, are you paying for their dress, or is their parents/someone else?

2) How did you pick their dress? Did you just pick a dress and tell the people to buy it? or did you ask the parents to pick something out for the child?

3) How much do your your flower girl dresses cost?

I'm not sure if I should pick something out and tell my FH brother, "here buy this" or if I should buy it for her, or if I should say, "please buy FH dress #1234 from Davids bridal", or just plain, "please buy her a plain white dress"

We paid for our FG dresses. We bought them online for about $25 a piece (we have two FGs)

My niece is going to be my flower girl and due to financial situations with my sister, I'm going to buy the dress, and she'll buy the shoes(we've worked this out already), I think it all just depends on finances really

My flower girl is my FH's niece and we paid for the dress and shipped it to her. We live in IN and she lives in GA. Because they won't be here until 2 days before the wedding and I couldn't get her fitted (had to guess in size) here her parents are paying for the alterations.

The parents bought my flower girl her dress. I automatically assumed that before they bought the dress. My BM all paid for there dresses. The only time I would say that you need to buy there dress is if they do not have the finance but you want them in your wedding. I went out and picked a dress and sent her mom the link. I found her dress at JCpennys. Bridal shops are outrageously expensive. I found the following places reasonable and great dresses to chose from...

    Jcpennys

    Burlington Coat Factory

    Online (flowergirldressforless.com)

    Hope this helps!

BTW, her dress was $40 and I found a $10 off $25 coupon and gave it the mom making her dress only cost $30!

Just a suggestion: My sis got married last year and ended up just buying her FG dress after Easter when the dresses went on sale. I think she paid like $20 for a big white fluffy dress and she did the same for the RB suit .

My cousins offered their daughters and let me pick the dresses. So their dress is from Nordstrom and its pink! The parents are buying everything. I told them what type of shoes to get and let them pick where to get them from.

I have two FGs from two different cousins on my mother's side. I picked out the dress style and paid for them ($275 for both at Nordstrom).

As long as the dress is not too expensive then the parents would pay for the dress. I personally am picking out the dress my the family of the flower girl is basically my family. They live out of state so I feel the least I can do is pay for the dress.

Since your wedding is a few months after Easter you could wait until all the little girls Easter dresses go on clearance and get a white dress for pretty cheap at Dillards/Macys etc. In my area the bride would pay for the flower girl dresses but I think it'd be fine either way.

My FG was DH's little sister. His mom was really slacking on putting the order in (and she kept picking out the same fricken dress that I didn't like) so once DB called and said the order needed to be in by this date, DH and I took his sister shopping and bought the dress she liked. =]

I'm paying for the flowergirl-dresses for my 2 nieces. And that's also my present to them for their 'help' Smiley winking. You have awesome FD for a low budget. I don't have realy a low budget but the FD I liked were only 28 dollars per dress.
