Who is walking you down the aisle, if not your dad? Why?

I'm having trouble decided whether to have my father walk me. Growing up, we had a volatile relationship because he was an alcoholic and abusive. I'm having trouble decided whether to have my father walk me. Growing up, we had a volatile relationship because he was an alcoholic and abusive. After he got sober and I went to therapy, we've been in a good place for a few years. Part of me will always have a resentment for how he treated me, so that's my hesitation on having him walk me down. I know he and my mom will be hurt and it will cause a WWIII. I don't know if it's worth the battle, but at the same time I cringe thinking of having him walk me. I am NOT having a father/daughter dance.

Do I suck it up and let him walk me?

My dad passed away so that answers that question. I was planning on having my mom walk me down the aisle, but her walking from multiple sclerosis has gotten worse. Even if she can still walk on my wedding day I think it is safer to have someone else walk her down. I wouldn't want my mom to trip on my dress. So I am just walking down by myself.

I was planning to not have anyone walk me down because I hate the concept of being "given away" by a man to another man, but I read somewhere of a nice modification where both moms escort the bride, and both dads escort the groom. FH likes this idea so we might do that. Less "giving away" and more "family unity"?

My brothers. My father passed away on 1/8 a few days after the hospital wedding. I really don't want to do it alone knowing he should have been there. Mom has been gone for almost 29 years. I could not choose between the 2 of them so they are both doing it.

My father passed away about two years ago. I am taking my FH suggestion to have my brother walk me down half the way and my son walk me the other half up to the altar.
