Who is sitting at the bride and grooms table?

Who will/did you have sitting at your head table. I have seen people sit with their parents and siblings or just with their wedding party. Is it awkward if people in your wedding party sit at the head table and their dates have to sit at a different table? I am wondering what other people are doing,...

I am wondering what other people are doing, because my table is not large enough to hold my entire wedding party and a few of them have dates who are not also in the wedding party. Ideally I want everyone to be happy with the seating situation, but that is easier said that done Smiley smile

We are just doing a sweetheart table at the head of the dance floor, with two tables flanking us, one for my parents, bridesmaids and dates, and the other for FH's parents, groomsmen, and dates

We are have a "sweetheart table".

The wedding party and their dates (or whoever else we decide to fill the seats with) will sit at tables on each side of us; groomsmen table on his side, bridesmaid table on my side.

    The tables are round.

The sweetheart table does seem to be very popular. Our planner said the majority of their brides use that.

To be honest, you're not at your table for very long anyway. If you're not up dancing, you're walking around thanking everyone. I think for your wedding party, it'll just be easier for them to sit with their dates.

We are having the bridal party along with their dates sitting at the head table with us. There's 17 people total. I love the idea of a captain's table though where people are not in one long row. I'm going to run that by my venue!

We're doing just a regular table - us and some of the bridal party. The only non bridal party person thats included is the best mans(FBIL's) girlfriend. But she's become a good friend so i don't mind. The ones that are left off are 2 of my sisters that have kids because they are sitting with their family.

We are doing a special "Sweetheart" table where just the two of us sit together. The bridal party will have their own table and be able to sit with their respective guest/partner.

    Just us.

I think I am going to put the two chairs up with a sign that invites people to come and sit down though.

We have the head table for the WP and we are having the spouses/so sit at a table near the head table. My WP does not have a problem with it. It is only for dinner anyways. After that everyone will be up and about.

I have NEVER heard of the captains table...and I LOVE it! Hmmmmmm

We have a WP of 16 including FH & I. We have a table long enough for the WP, but I am in love with this captains table idea.

We are having a captain's table also, although I didn't know it was called that until now. I don't like when everyone is on one side of the table...it's a party, not the Last Supper.

Also, as the shy fiancé of a frequent groomsmen, please don't make dates sit alone, it's uncomfortable for everyone.

Edited: As to your predicament I would either sit with your parents or with your MOH, BM and their dates. With the rest of the party & their dates nearby

    We haven't decided yet.

All our tables are round - we will either be with our siblings and partners or our best friends (no wedding party) we would have our parents but then we would have space and wouldn't know who to sit there

We had a sweetheart table and I wouldn't change it for the world. A place of respite for the two of you, who will likely be pulled in a million directions throughout the reception. I had MOH and SO sit at first table on my side with some family and random good friends. BM and wife sat at first table on his side, also with family.

At my son's wedding, the B&G sat with her parents (including her very homophobic father), me, my wife, my ex, and my son's first nanny. Amazingly enough, no one got murdered! LOL

I don't know what i am going to do yet... but kinda leaning toward the idea of just having the BP, me and FH, and their plus ones (total of 8 of us including the dates) at a regular round table like all the others. I assume we will be up walking around and visiting with everyone for the most part, and I'm not sure how i feel about having a grand different table.. guess i'd rather just be part of my crowd than the center of it.. we are getting center of attention at the ceremony.. is that enough?
