A friend of my fiancé's, who acted as his adoptive mother and took him in when he was in high school. She's travelling almost 4000 miles to make it, it's going to be really special Smiley smile It's such a long way we might want a backup though!

We talked to a friend about officiating for us. He has officiated for a couple weddings previously so he’s comfortable doing it. My FH is not religious and I do not follow an organized religion. Luckily in CO we don’t have strict requirements on who can officiate, we don’t even technically have to have an officiant. Some of the posts about requirements and costs for officiants seem crazy to me.

We're having a friend do ours. Our wedding will be the first he does, but I'm not nervous about it. He has a great personality (He's the lead singer in his own rock band.) which is exactly why we asked him to do it.

A friend of ours is ordained and she just got her certificate for it. I asked her the other day if she would perform the ceremony and she said she would love to.

We had one of my long time friends do it for us. She has known me for a long time and did such a beautiful job. It was so personal that way, especially since we aren’t big church people.

    Hi Laura!

Great topic! I was actually just wondering how much to tip our officiant. We are paying $450 for someone we found through wedding wire!
Funny story... we have a family friend who has officiated about 30 weddings. He's a cool dude but we don't really jive. He called my Sil the wrong name during her vows. He has mispronounced my name too. I'm not gonna go there. I'd be devastated. So, even though most of our siblings have been married by him we're going with someone else.
So after all that jazz, I found a woman on here with stellar reviews. She is the sweetest and has let us craft the perfect vows after providing an ample amount of choices. Totally tailored and fits who we are. I can't wait to have her be a part of our day. The same goes for all our vendors. They were all carefully selected and I can't wait!
What about you? I love to hear how your planning is going. ☺️

We're having a Reverend that was suggested to us by our venue. Im Roman Catholic and he is Greek Orthodox and we promised my mom wed do a church ceremony eventually....We wanted a family friend, but Momzilla freaked out and said God must be there ( which I dont disagree with) so we caved and hired a minister. He is wonderful to communicate with and has wonderful testimonials.

My uncle is officiating our ceremony. I have a lot of ministers in my family. Not exactly sure why I gravitated to that specific uncle more.
