Who is having ushers? What are you having them wear?

Sara STB Mrs. R, on February 12, 2015 at 3:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

We just asked our bowling league couple to be our ushers so it will be a male and female. Are you having your ushers wear the same as your bridal party? I'm just looking for ideas based on what others have done.

My younger brother (14) & my godchild (8) are being our ushers (but we call them junior groomsmen & they are so excited). They are wearing gray pants, a white shirt, & a gray/white chevron bowtie. The GM are wearing gray pants, white shirts, gray suspenders & a gray bowtie. So they are dressing similar. They are also standing up next to the GM during the ceremony so I wanted them to match.

I am having my niece & nephew as ushers and they are both 14. I just told them to dress nice no set outfits or dress. My niece is a big tomboy and don't like to wear dresses but she said "Auntie I will wear a dress to your wedding because I love you that much". She's so sweet but I told her if she wanted to wear nice slacks and a nice shirt I would be totally cool with it.

Yes I will be having ushers not sure what they are going to wear yet but it won't be the same as BP. Usually try not the have the ushers and hostess dress as fancy because they are more like assistance (there to work, kinda) The guys will probably wear something they have in their closets and we may buy them a matching shirt or tie. Like black slacks, white shirt, and a tie that matches the wedding colors. The girls (hostesses) I love dress shopping so I will likely have them pick a color from the wedding and see if they have anything they like that color in their closets if not... shopping

Most likely but our ushers will be doing transportation since parking for our venue is 2-3 blocks down the hill from our venue. I hadn't even thought wardrobe (although I still have a lot of time) probably slacks and a nice shirt....

We're using the groomsmen as ushers. If we had asked someone else to fill that role, I don't think we would have asked them to wear anything special. Just slacks/button up, maybe try to match our color scheme but nothing crazy. But we're also having a pretty casual wedding.

We told our ushers to wear what they wanted, since they were getting boutonnieres, but they decided to coordinate with black dress pants, white long sleeve button-down, and a black tie.

When I was younger, my cousin and I were ushers in our uncle's wedding. They just asked us to wear black dresses.

We are having our brothers as ushers. They will just wear whatever suit they feel like. One of my FBILs already has a suit he will wear and we will help my other FBIL and my brother get suit jackets. We are not worried about them matching. They will also have boutineers.

To me groomsmen and ushers are the same thing. So yes, and they will be wearing the same as the wedding party - obviously.

FH neice begged to be in the wedding(she is 8) & she was thrilled when I asked her to help by being an usher & pass out programs. HEr & her brother (10) will help direct people & pass out fan programs. I told their mom, whatever they were intending to wear just to the wedding is fine by me.

I'm not really doing ushers, but instead greeters (they won't seat people but they'll hand out programs, let people know to sign the guest book, etc). Our colors are red and turquoise, our bridesmaids are wearing red long dresses so the greeters are wearing turquoise short dresses. I have two of my girlfriends doing it so I can't help you with if it was for a man.

I rarely see dedicated ushers; usually they're groomsmen pulling double duty, but when I do see them, they're usually just dressed in a nice suit, like what they'd wear to the wedding.
