Who is going bra-less? Lifting Tape?

RhnCasi419, on July 29, 2015 at 8:02 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I know, weird subject - but after months of looking for the right bra, I've come up with nothing and went in for my 1st fitting a week or so ago. The alterations woman said I didn't even need a bra. I have to agree. You can't see a damn thing under the bodice of the dress. Except for ... I could use a little more lift in my opinion. So, she suggested lifting tape. I set out to find lifting tape on Frederick's of Hollywood, Macys ... there are so many different types and kinds. I am getting married mid-October so I'm not worried about sweating and keeping those babies on me so much. I'm confused on which ones to buy. Or even that I should trust the alterations woman when she said I don't need a bra (which I tend to agree with her, but what do I know? I've never dressed for anything formal in my life before this wedding) - I thought I'd ask the wise members of WW. Hope someone knows. I need to order these things soon before my next fitting in a couple of weeks.

I went totally braless... I never intended on wearing a bra because my dress was a corset, but I did ask my seamstress for cups. She said that if you're over about a B cup, they just give you "boob fat" and she was right! I don't need any extra lift/shape though. Smiley winking

I have seen a lot of girls here post that the stick on bras work well.

I think i'm just going to have them sew in cups into the dress. You can't see anything through my dress either, and it's structured enough where I probably don't need it......but, I'm not the most endowed lady lol so the extra padding might help me feel a little more comfortable.

Do you have a picture of your dress? I have never tried lifting tape before so I can't offer much help there...but I know there are some crazy bra's out there for every type of dress if you prefer a bra. Have you talked about having cups put in?

ETA: there are also the chicken cutlet stick on things that you can clip together in the middle to add some extra cleavage and lift.

Yes, we talked about cups being sewn in, but in the end, she ultimately determined I didn't need to? I am a "C" cup, so maybe because of what Jess said? I look like I have "something up there" just would like a little more lift. Although, alterations lady said I didn't need anything, we are our own worst critics, I have a certain look in mind, and I'd like a little more "oomph" haha ... or lift. So, just wondering best lifting tape out there. Yes, my MOH said same thing, she called them chicken cutlets.

Yes, my dress is here at my home waiting for next alterations apt (she is on vaca now) and there it will stay next time ... but it is so damn HOT here in Massachusetts (HEAT WAVE) that the thought of trying it on to show you on here is making me sweat already, even with air conditioning. I have a new respect for summer brides!

I just had the seamstress add cups in. I tried the lifting tape in the past for a bridesmaid dress,I personally didn't care for them. I'm a bit busty so I think they just don't work well for busty girls.

    Eta: comment was cut off.

I don't get the whole "you don't need cups because you have boobs" because cups do more then make you look larger..they smooth and you can request the push up ones or non push up which provides lift...but *shrug* i'm tech. a C but i have broad shoulders so it doesn't look it (throwing some shade at my dad for these line backer shoulders...thanks dad)

hahaha I totally understand!! (summer sucks) even a stock photo would work so we can see how the cut of the dress is..low back? low front? etc.

ETA: I think there are also full body smoothing spank like things that can offer boob oomph..but since I don't have a fully fitted gown I haven't looked into them. I have seen a TON of brides talking about them on here though.

ETA2: like this! but not in black..obviously Smiley tongue

I had my first gown try-on this past Monday. My sales associate told me I don't even need a bra and the seamstress could sew cups in. They'll include that in the price of the alterations, which is a set fee, so I think I'll take it. I'm pretty small, so the padding will help. My first fitting isn't until February, so I still have awhile. But cups are the way to go for me. I was wearing a regular bra when I tried the gown on, so I'm hoping the cups have the same effect.

@FMM... I didn't believe the seamstress at first. I'm a DD/DDD and I thought I needed them so I wouldn't look droopy, but she put a set in to show me and she was totally right... instant boob fat. I had a corset dress so that gave me all the support I needed.

I'm like you. I have no idea what to do. I have a low v and a sheer back. I'm a c cup. I have the bra part of what FMM posted but it does nothing. I've never head of lifting tape so I'm going to look into that! But I definitely need lift so idk what to do! Ugh.

I'm a braless bride! Having cups sewn in for some extra volume in the boob area.

I am a b c cup. My dress is a corset. Since I'm smaller I will try a strapless bra to give me that oomf lol

Having the worst time trying to upload a stock photo of the dress right now, I've given up. The dress is strapless, back doesn't go down too low, probably mid back with a slight V then goes into a zipper with crystal buttons covering the zipper all the way down to the train.

Future!Mrs.Myers yes, that is what I am talking about, but I'm wondering the best quality ones. The price of the one's shown are so cheap I wonder about the quality. For whatever reason, my alterations lady said I didn't need cups sewn in. I wanted more cleavage and she suggested the lifting tape, my MOH said "chicken cutlets" which she has heard about from her sisters who had taken dance class for years.

I'm a bigger girl (DD) and I have a corset back dress. In trying it on I have determined that even *I* don't need a bra. Score! One less thing to wear under the dress! I don't even feel the need for any kind of extra lift.

Following. Also a C. I had cups sewn in, but I want to find some tape to keep the girls from popping out the side.

I need some super strong tape, I'm getting married in August and heat and humidity in Iowa is no joke.

I am adding the cups to give me a little something. I have a corset back and they will be sewn right into the dress. The bust is the only part (aside from the bustle) that needs to be altered, and of course taken in. Apparently I am a triangle, ugh. Size 2, 4, 8 for bust, waist, hips.
