Who holds the rings?

Marina, on September 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

So who actually should hold the wedding band walking down the isle? Is it the ring bearer, the best man, BM, mom? Who did what and what works?

    My RB held them (tied to a cushion). He was 8, so old enough to not lose them. I think it's kind of silly to have fake rings for a RB to carry, but I guess it makes sense if you have a really young RB.

    I'm not having a 'ring bearer', so my Son who will be 15 at the wedding and is escorting me, will have a small box in his pocket that will contain both my ring and FH's ring.

    Our RB's were 9, so we felt comfortable having them keep the rings. If yours is younger, they should hand them off either both to the best man, or one to the best man and one to the maid of honor.

    We don't have a ring bearer. So the best man will hold both our rings. If you are having a ring bearer, I guess it would depend on his age. Or ask his parents if they think he can handle it. Or give him fake rings so he is happy.

    FH had them. Normally I think it would be the best man if the ring bearer were too little, but we didn't have a best man.

    As an officiant, I prefer that the Best Man have both rings. The MOH is holding her bouquet and the bride's bouquet. She doesn't need to juggle them to get the groom's ring off her thumb or out of a pocket.

    Our ring bearer (will be 7) will walk with them down the isle and give them to the best man. The best man will hold them during the ceremony. We plan to give the RB the rings only a few minutes before the ceremony though

    Anyone you want. Usually the BM; if the RB is little, don't give him real rings. Ditto with dog ring bearers. Don't make me tell you the story about the four year old, Point Pleasant Beach and the metal detector. There was a pasta strainer involved as well.

    @Celia... Oh My lol

    I was thinking it should be the GM, 'cause my MOH will have her bouquet and no pockets - enough to hold as is, so the RB can have fake rings so the pillow is not empty?

    We didn't have a RB. Our BM had them in his pocket.

    My FH's six year old son is our ring bearer and he will be holding a ring nest.

    The rings will actually be tied into the nest until.

    Our ring bearer will be walking down the aisle with a sign that says" Uncle Justin here comes your girl" so FMIL will have the rings in a cute little wooden box. When the officiant asks for the rings, the ring bearer will bring the box up to us.

    BM will be holding both rings down the aisle. Our RBs are only 3 so they will have pillows with fake rings tied on.

    My FH has worked for FedEx for the last 12 years, so his 11 year old son (our RB) is going to carry a small FedEx box down the aisle and have the BM sign for it. But the BM will have the rings in his pocket the whole time (the box will be empty; just for show) My FH came up with that idea & I think it's hilarious, so we're going with it. Even though he's 11 & very responsible, I don't trust him with our rings. Hell, I barely trust our 31 year old BM, but someone's gotta do it Smiley winking
