Who gets their hair/makeup done first...bridesmaids or the bride?!

meesh1204, on March 18, 2015 at 8:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So out of my BM's, two of them have chosen to get their hair/makeup done professionally. The day of the wedding I will have one makeup artist and one hairstylist for the three of us. So my question is- should my BM's get their hair/makeup done first or should I? I've heard conflicting things, like: the bride should go first to ensure there is enough time to be ready- but I've also heard the bride should go last to ensure hair/makeup stays fresh and lasts longer!

When do you plan on getting ready?

Me, 3 BMs and the two moms are all getting our hair and makeup done. I'm going to go in the middle. I want my makeup to look fresh at the ceremony so I don't want to go first. The moms will get theirs done last, while me and my BMs have some pics taken.

As the bride you will want to go as close to last as possible. That will allow your photographer to potentially get some "getting ready" photos if included in your package. You also want to look fresh for any remaining pictures as well

It depends on what you are getting done ... For example if you are doing an elaborate updo with extensions the last thing you want to do is have to rush by being last ... If it cant last for the three hours you have allotted it will not last through the day...We always do the hair that takes the longest first (usually the bride)...and the brides makeup last or in the middle...

I plan on getting ready whenever the stylist says it's my turn. My sister wants her daughter to go as close to the end as possible so they have the least amount of time to mess their hair up, so I might go right before them? Again, I'll just defer to the stylist.

The 3 of us having our hair done are doing it all at the same time. Make up, I'm not sure yet.

This is something that is sooooo pointless to stress about. They can get ready first or you can. It doesn't matter

This is so strange I was actually thinking about this, this morning on my way to work lol. I will be going last. I believe the bride is suppose to go as close as possible to the ceremony time.

It doesn't matter, as long as you're all done in time for the photos.

Doesn't matter... whatever arrangement works to get everyone done in time. We will have multiple people for hair (at a salon) and one MUA (at the hotel) for the three of us. My hair appointment is at 9 AM and my BMs are at 10 AM. My hair is expected to take at least 2 hours and the BMs an hour or less, so we'll get done around the same time. The MUA has it scheduled to start on one BM, then do me second, then finish with the other BM. Whichever BM gets done with her hair first will head to the hotel and get started on makeup. That way there is a little extra time in case my hair runs over, which is highly likey. She didn't want to do my makeup last though because we're doing a first look.

I have 7 people who have to get their hair and makeup done so we're starting pretty early. I'll be going last because our photographer won't be there in the beginning when we begin the hair and makeup process. I would like her to be able to take photos of me getting ready and I think it would be best if all of my BM are "camera ready" so they can be in shots helping me get ready.

I'm going last so that my photographer can show up at the very tail end of me getting ready and get photos.
