white wedding invite envelopes... boring

Finally mrs.jkr, on February 17, 2015 at 1:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

My invite envelopes are going to be just stark white.... it seems so boring, what can I do to make them fancier? I must be searching the wrong terms because google and pinterest are pulling up almost nothing...

Stamp the back or make the return labels have a fancy picture? Simple is fine also. Mine are plain ecru and that is fine.

I'm doing a colored envelope because I feel the exact same way. Vistaprint has some cheap ones if you change your mind. You can get Calligraphy beautifully written, a fun stamp (I think we're going with Harry Potter), a sticker or wax to seal the envelope. Type "wedding envelope design" and see what comes up? You could send the white envelopes through a printer and have it address and leave a cool little design on it (polka dots along the bottom, a stripe on the side)

Did you see what stamps are available? I was able to find some colorful flower ones that dressed up the envelope.

Mine are plain white and so are the labels....I am using a stamp for the return address that I bought last year and stamping the back flap. I don't care what the envelopes look like, they're going into the trash the minute they're received.

I DID see a metal seal and wax pens that I briefly thought about buying and stamping the back of the envelope with the wax seal, but that would have added more weight and more $$$ for postage

You could do a fancy calligraphy, or (GASP!) label. I am using a fun wrap around return address label from Wedding Paper Divas on my white envelopes. Really no one is going to care about what their invite comes in.

I saved the money the money on the envelopes and chose to do fun gold metallic belly bands inside.

Eh, don't worry about it. If you know how to do calligraphy, that's a way to dress them up.

I can do calligraphy, but it's been years so I didn't feel confident enough doing my envelopes. I have a Silhouette machine and have been using that with a pen to do a faux calligraphy on them. The bad thing is that only outlines the outside... I have to go back with a marker and fill in the letters. It's a pain in the ass but I don't mind it so far. I hate putting that much work into something that's going to be trashed, but they look really nice and it's costing me very little.

I looked at stamps.... now I'm really tempted to put batman stamps on our wedding invites.... even though our invites are relatively formal, but maybe they'd make them a little less formal since our wedding is not all that formal (invites are like fancy casual)

Mine are plain white. I looked for others but decided I didn't want to pay $50 plus shipping on something that's gonna be torn and thrown away. I'm stamping the return address on the back flap.

Mine are plain white #10 business envelopes. I borrowed my sisters calligraphy pen and stamped it with football stamps (selection was limited).

They were plain in my opinion. But I got lots of comments saying the simplicity of them with the calligraphy made them "fancy".

Also, I spent a lot of time on the invites, so i didn't care about the envelopes at this point.
