Hi guys, my e-ring's at Kay Jewelers to be redipped, the last time it was there was in June. It was definitely due to be done, the yellow gold was showing through, and they charge me $60 each time. I'm wondering if other places do a better job (so it can go longer) or charge less? If it keeps on at this rate, in a couple years, I will have spent more on the replating than DH did on the ring, which seems a little ridiculous.

You should just get it insured. I don't know about Kay, but he got mine at Helzberg and paid about $600 to insure it. That covers lifelong re-dipping, stone replacement, free resizing, etc. Well worth the money, especially is re-dipping is $60 a pop

If you are having to have it dipped that often I would suggest replacing the setting with another grade of gold or upgrade to platinum. There is no way I would take my ring in every 6 months. I have a white gold ring I've worn for 3 years and I've never had to touch it up.
