Now that the new year is upon us, FH is finally able to talk wedding and give opinions. We are now torn between 2 scenarios for our expected 40-50 wedding guests.

I would like for you to think about this from guests' perspective and as bride/groom.

1. Have the wedding at a chapel and then go back to the rental cabin for the reception and have catered BBQ supper along with wine/beer and conversations that could last into the night with no set ending time. No speeches/dancing/bouquet toss. There will be cake cutting as the only wedding tradition. The rest will be cocktail party environment because that's the tone of our guests and us.

2. Have the wedding AND reception at a brewery with a set start and stop time for the party. No speeches/dancing..For both scenarios the wedding is at 5:30pm.

With scenario 2. we don't have to worry about parking and hiring a bartender but we lose the comfort/casual ease of guests coming and going at their own pace.

#1 has been our plan since July.

I'm a big fan of an orchestrated day; it seems smoother and more appropriate to the guests than a loosey goosey thing....not formal, necessarily, but more organized.

#2. Then you don't have to worry about cleaning up or anything afterwards.

Wouldn't that be a distillery? Smiley winking

We are having roughly 35 people and with the exception of maybe 4 or so, it will all be family. I'm not too worried about having it be a more informal event Smiley smile

I like the brewery idea a lot. It seems like it simplifies the logistics of the whole day.

2! You could always combine them? Do the brewery then afterwards with your bridal party relax at the cabin?

I vote scenario 2, also. I prefer having a set time for everything, too.

We had originally planned for a wedding at our local brewery because we were going to have a small wedding. But, we decided the private lounge room was too small. Since then we increased our guest list and had to find a big venue. I sometimes wish we could've gone with the Brewery though.

2 sounds better to me - as a guest - but also to you! The brewery will take care of everything which will lower your stress. Fewer moving parts to deal with will be so much easier on you! And, like a pp mentioned, I would get very annoyed with people hanging out at the cabin trying to keep the party going when I was ready to go to sleep. You can always bring the bridal party and your parents back to the cabin after the brewery if you want!
