Which slip?

on October 6, 2019 at 10:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 33
At David’s bridal I was given a smaller slip to try on dresses. When I chose my dress I thought I would probably want a larger slip since it is a ballgown after all. I bought a larger slip and now I need some opinions. My son loves it with the larger slip but my mom said she doesn’t and isn’t sure why. My moh said both look good but she prefers the smaller slip as well. What do you all think? My dress still needs taken in by 4 sizes and I have lots of dress that’s dragging at the bottom that will need altered as well. Also, please don’t mind my awful carpet - I make a mess of it refinishing our furniture or my “Wedding diy corner” in the background.

It looks beautiful with either one I’m torn! I’m a huge fan of big dramatic ballgowns but I think I’m actually leaning more towards the smaller one maybe? Honestly it’s gorgeous either way you go I guess I’m not very much help lol!

Man that is a hard one! They both look great on you. I guess I’d say pick the one you’ll feel most comfortable in all day.

With the smaller slip, the pleating in the skirt is more pronounced and it looks very classy. The bigger slip makes the pleats looser so it changes the way the dress looks.

I have a ball gown as well with pleats and I had the same dilemma.

That is a really tough question, they are both so beautiful in there own way and very different. If it were me I would say larger slip just because your son likes it more and how sweet is that.

You look fabulous but I think with the bigger one, the dress is wearing you. As in wow! That’s some dress! And with the smaller one it’s more like-wow! Look at the beautiful bride!

I LOVE both! I would decide based on the wedding. For a formal evening wedding then the larger, or a day time wedding the smaller one. Will you be dancing a ton? Maybe the smaller one. I love the large one but for your small frame I think maybe the smaller one. Both are stunning! The dress reminds me of my very close second choice but I went with a slim lace dress, they were quite opposite of each other. I felt the fuller dress might be too much for our brunch wedding and always imagined myself with lace but the stylist had me try on a “wild card” dress which looked just like that and I was stunned at how gorgeous it is!

I love the big one!!! I'm a sucker for big ball gowns! Not many opportunities out there to wear a big dress. You could always do the big dramatic one for the ceremony and the smaller one for the reception if you cant decide.

It looks like the majority is leaning towards the smaller slip. To answer a few questions, it is a semi formal event. The ceremony is going to be in the church pictured. We will have evergreen trees as our backdrop and then at the reception our backdrop with be a large black sign with our last name and evergreens on either side (inspiration pic added). My bridesmaids are in black gowns and my flower girls will be in the dress pictured. Fiancé is wearing a tuxedo with black velvet jacket. This is my veil.

Where is your veil from? Are those... leaves, or flowers?

I'm trying to find something with leaves / 3d paisley... patterned-y-ness... I'm picky and finding it to be as difficult a task as finding the dress!

I think we have the same glasses. We must have very similar taste! Other than my fiancé the dress has been the easiest decision of this wedding so far. Although I’ve seen other dresses and thought, oh I should have tried more on! You just can’t beat the comfort and movement of this dress though. Here is a closer picture of the veil. It’s not come in yet but I ordered from jjshouse and the reviews for the veil were really good.
