So, I’m feeling shy about my body in my wedding gown, so I’d like to wear a bolero or a shrug with it. My wedding dress is ivory with a lace overlay over a plain underneath lining and what looks to be pewter color beading. I’d love to wear a gold cover up, but the beading looks more pewter like. My fiancé wants us to include burgundy as a color in the wedding. I also like silver and red. Would any of these shrugs or bolero tops go well over a lace wedding dress with that satiny lining? These shrugs or boleros (the plain shimmery one and the rosette satin one) also both come in silver. I want to do something a bit different than traditional. My fiancé wants to wear a black tux with color accents of whatever main color we go with. Could you please help with suggestions? No one came dress shopping with me. I could use the advice. Thanks so much.

When you say you like these two better, do you mean the gray feather shrugs I posted today? Did you have your alterations done at David’s Bridal? Is that who told you you could add on lace cap sleeves? What did you wear in your hair, a veil or flowers or anything? What shoes did you wear? Thanks so much.

Yes, I prefer the furs. I actually didn’t go with this dress, I didn’t want to say yes without my mom because she would have been devastated and I ended up finding one I absolutely loved at another boutique yesterday. I did talk to the consultant at DB and she’s the one who told me they could add cap sleeves, they actually have little pieces they can clip on the dress to give you an idea of what it would look like. If you can put a sample on again and have them show you a couple options maybe that would help you decide- cap sleeves or off the shoulder sleeves maybe. As far as hair, my plan is to wear a tiara or crown and do my hair half up-half down. My daughter wanted me to wear a ball gown and look like a princess (she’s 4), but I got a sheath with no poof. Since I’ll probably never have another socially acceptable excuse to wear a tiara that’ll be the princess element for her. I also like the romantic look of flower crowns and I think that would be really pretty with this dress if you didn’t want the added bling of a tiara. I have no idea for shoes yet, other than I need wedges or chunky heels because we’re getting married in mountainous terrain and my FH is nearly a foot taller than me so I need a little heel. There are some really cute shoes on Amazon, but I’m always weary about online so I prefer to just check local stores where I can try on. I did end up with a lace dress- that’s what I loved most about this dress- and I’m thinking for shoes I want something fairly simple with just a little bling since my dress doesn’t have any beading or sparkle. The detail and beading in this dress is really pretty, I’d prioritize comfort in shoes and go from there. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll pull together a look you love!

Thanks so much. It’s nice to get recommendations from someone who has seen the dress up close. I did get the ivory version of it. Which of the first two fur shrugs do you prefer with this dress? The beading looks to be more of a pewter color, so I’m guessing a gray or a silver gray shrug or bolero would work best. I was thinking either a small flower crown (I have really short hair right now) or a bird cage style veil with flowers on it. I can’t decide between glitter flats or glitter sneakers.

Go with a simple shrug so that the attention is on you versus the bolero.

I understand! Pictures don’t always do the details justice! I like the silvery grey best. Have you tried a birdcage style veil to see how you like the look on yourself? It annoys me too much to have something in my face, but I like the look on other people! There are so many decisions to make and it’s hard to really get a feel for things without trying it!
For shoes, I love flats and wear them frequently. However, I have seen some really cute glittery sneakers and if you will get more wear out of those after the wedding versus flats I would totally go that route.

Do you like the smoother fur looking one or the fuller looking one? Wondering I could get away with wearing a flower crown with extremely short hair. I agree with you about the birdcage veil. I’m just curious about it. Thanks so much for your help.
