Which potatoes would you prefer as a guest?

We have a choice of mashed potatoes and gravy or au gratin potatoes with our prime rib plated option. Which as a guest would you prefer? I am a potato fanatic so I'm having troubles deciding one over the other LOL

Au gratin!! I personally don’t trust other people’s mashed potatoes and not a fan of gravy on it.

Gratin!!! But, anyone with dairy issues may have an easier time with mashed potatoes and I feel like more people liked mashed over gratin.

Au Gratin all the way. . .mashed potatoes cool down too quickly and gravy could get gummy real quick

Au gratin. You can get mashed potatoes at every chain restaurant. I would be excited as a guest to see au gratin potatoes.

Au gratin!! Mashed can be made at home with no problem, and I view Au gratin as a fancier option that you don't get to have everyday lol. We're also having au gratin at our wedding so I may be a little biased!

I love mashed and gravy, but they can get cold fast. Au gratin is something different and more flavor.

I would go with mashed and gravy. They usually cook prime rib longer and don't givee enough au jus for banquets.

I love both options but feel like good au gratin potatoes are more of a "rare treat" or special occasion vibe than mashed, which feels very family style and "everyday" by comparison.

If you have the opportunity to taste both I would go with whichever is more of the stand out. You really can't go wrong with either so pick the one that packs the most flavor.
