Should I say "a block of rooms has been reserved", or "a block of rooms have been reserved?"

FH says it's has...although I think have sounds better. I guess has is proper though Smiley smile

Has...the block is the noun, and it's singular!

Has…you're referring to the block, not the rooms. For instance… A block has been reserved. you wouldn't say A block have been reserved.

good question though, that's a tricky one Smiley smile

He said the subject of the sentence is block...not room so the verb has to match the subject, which makes it has..not have. I dunno....I don't get it but he's super smart when it comes to this stuff! So, I guess basically, if you leave out the "rooms" it wouldn't make sense to say a block have been reserved. It would be a block, "has" been reserved.
