Where/How to print Save-the-Dates?

Happy In Hawaii, on June 28, 2014 at 9:58 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

I'm a little clueless when it comes to printing things and doing DIY save-the-dates. We knew we wanted to create our own save-the-date because we had a unique idea in mind. We put together a file in photoshop (FH is the photoshop man!) and it's the right size for a 5 x 7 card (double sided). Then we were thinking of taking it to a local place for printing instead of using VP so we can see the result right away to make sure we're happy with it (before ordering like 80). So have any of you had experience printing at Kinkos or other places? We were planning to do Kinkos but weren't sure if they have a good selection of paper choices and such. Or did you go somewhere else? What type of paper did you use?

Also for those that printed their own envelopes for invites or save-the-dates, what program did you use on the computer to write out the addresses? Do you have any tricks for printing on envelopes? I've never done it!

Any advice on this would help! Thanks!

I got mine through etsy (so similar) and printed at Office Depot.

Oh, I used to have to print on envelopes all the time for work. Go to mail and labels in word. Then I think it's the first icon on the tool bar. Just make sure the size of the envelope matches the size options. You can do custom sizing too.

Honestly Wal-Mart. They have tons of options and you can get them printed in an hour. You just have to upload the image online through their card maker

I've printed stuff at Kinko's before. They do an awesome job, but the paper choices aren't great (especially if you want to print in color). You can bring them your own paper for printing, but if you do have color, make sure you talk to them before ordering so that you can make sure you can get the right kind for their printers.

I'm hoping to use a free template from weddingchicks.com and get a picture of us transparent in the background (done in Powerpoint) and having them printed either via VP or Staples.

How did you get them for so cheap? The image I uploaded is literally just black text and they want $45 for 50.
