Where to go dress shopping?

Allison, on December 10, 2019 at 6:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

This may seem like a dumb question, but how did you decide where to go dress shopping? I have an idea of my budget but I don't have the slightest clue what dress style I want. I'm really open to trying anything! How do I know where to go dress shopping? There are SO many boutiques in my area.

I would check out the reviews first! Then i would pick your top 2 stores you want to look at and make an appointment if needed. Smiley smile When you go in just let them know your budget and that you are open to different styles and they should help you from there with pulling dresses to try on.

Some will also have their price range on their website, which could help you avoid the expensive ones.

(If you choose to avoid the expensive ones. Just be clear on your budget so you don’t fall in love with something above it!)

For me I made appointments at a variety and my plan was to check them all out and make a decision and purchase in the new year. I went to David's Bridal and fell in love with my dress. In regards to type of dress it depends on your body type and what you love. If you are on pinterest type in wedding dresses and see what pops up and what you like? I was clueless at first too lol. Do this for fun. https://www.davidsbridal.com/wedding-dress-quiz

If you dont know what style yet, just goggle the shops on your area. Make sure they're in your price range (some of them have their range on their websites) and have good reviews. And then pick whatever you want! As you try on dresses and get an idea for the look/designer you like, then you can look into which shops carry those dresses and book there to get more specific

I Yelp’d local boutiques then asked a few questions to see if they had dresses I was looking for (within my budget, dresses with sleeves).

If you’re looking for a particular designer, then go to their website and look up which bridal shops near you are authorized resellers.

I would go to a chain like David’s Bridal to try out different silhouettes and then if you want a more unique dress then go to the boutiques.

I started at the boutique that had the best reviews! Trust me when I say this; you’re gonna want a boutique with very friendly and patient employees because you’ll be trying on just about every style to narrow things down!

There are a lot of boutiques in my area, as well. It was hit or miss at boutiques with me as far as the experience. As PPs have mentioned, read reviews; a lot of times the bridal consultants are so pushy because they’re experts.
I ended up finding my gown through a Demetrios bridal salon store in the area. It was a larger store and I kinda wish I had gone to a larger store first than the smaller boutiques.
