Where to get your dream engagement ring for the best price?

Private User, on April 5, 2021 at 8:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
I am 43 and getting married in September. My boyfriend and I met 3.5 years ago, just before I moved out of state. We were both pursuing the Lord at the time and had peace about waiting to date and to just focus on our walk with the Lord! We stayed in touch and grew in our friendship until one day, we decided to go on our first date last year!!!! We have been dating 9 months now, he put his house on the market a week ago, its pending and he will fonally be here in about 3ish weeks!!! With that being said, we did things a little different. He told me he was gonna marry me but has not officially asked. We both wanted for his house to sell and him to be here before we got engaged. So I know the proposal is coming but I wanna help him in some way, not to overpay for a ring. Any suggestions? Best place and price for your dream ring? And did you pick it out or was it a surprise? Help!!!

Like you I knew it was coming so I picked out a ring that I loved online and sent it to my sister so when my boyfriend asked she would be able to tell him what I liked. 😊 Sure enough he asked for her opinion and I got the ring I loved. Because it was a David Yurman ring and very expensive I had told her to tell him to go get a price and have it made by a jeweler and it ended up being about half or more less than what he would have paid for it and the David Yurman store. He was able to chose the diamond and it looks almost exactly like the one on their website. My point is that sometimes designing it and having it made can be cheaper than picking one from a store. Another idea would be to get a non diamond stone. I see so many brides with gorgeous rings that are not diamonds. Good luck in your search.

So I knew what ring I wanted over a year before he proposed. My mom and I had gone to Zales to get my jewelry cleaned and I saw a ring I loved. I did mention to it to him and it was part of the Disney Princess collection so it was easy for him to remember exactly which ring it was as it their Tinkerbell ring. He was able to get it at a discounted price because he signed up for a Zales credit card.

Awww, thank you. Since it was a second marriage for me and it was on the beach the dress really wasn’t that important to me. I got it from David’s Bridal and it was not very expensive. I decided to spend the money on great food, drinks and music, but it’s so nice that someone thinks it’s pretty. Looking back I’m disappointed that I didn’t take more time worrying about my dress. Oh well, the day was beautiful. BTW, congratulations on your upcoming move in with your boyfriend and pending engagement. It sounds like you have a built a great foundation together. 😊

Thank you! We have both been married previously, me for 22 years and him for 12. We have decided this is our last! Since it is my second wedding, I don't want to worry as much about a dress but I still want to feel and look beautiful!! I was 17 the first time and didn't have the money to go all out. But this time, some things that are important to me are the location, my ring and the honeymoon. I had diamond dust the first time (again, was only 17) and got married on a military base and did not have a honeymoon. Alson since it is not our first wedding, we are not having a reception.... I went back and forth about this but we have family all over the states and no one particular location seems fair to expect people to travel to. Hope I don't regret that decision.

If you want a diamond, I would suggest talking to the jeweler about a lab created diamond. It's still a real diamond, it's just created in a lab vs. found in the ground and it's A LOT cheaper and they're still beautiful. If you don't want a diamond, other gemstones tend to be a little cheaper!

I recommend speaking with a local jeweler. If you want a diamond, you can tell them your price range and they present a few options. You can look for antique rings also.

You're welcome! The actual engagement was a surprise, but he definitely knew which ring I liked. I basically just said in the event we ever get engaged I like this ring.

So I’m a big clumsy goof and when my fiancé proposed to me after the initial shock and excitement, I started thinking about how nervous I was to drop the ring down the sink or lose it etc. Because its a real diamond. I searched online and I found TigerGems! The ring he got me is a very straightforward classic ring which is not only what I love, but I was able to find a TigerGems.com ring That looks exactly like my ring. My tiger gems ring is a little bit bigger carat wise, however they do make smaller carat sizes and I think I might actually buy one of those as well. The smaller carat would be basically an exact replica of my ring, And I’m not sure if it’s a moissanite or what they use, but it looks extremely real, and it was only about 100 or so bucks, as compared to my real ring which was thousands. I never ever wear my real ring at this point! I’m too scared! Part of me feels like if he got me a “ non real diamond” Instead, I wouldn’t have cared either way (and actually secretly preferred that he would have at times Because I feel like we could’ve put that money towards better use secretly, shhh lol). I often forget that the ring I’m wearing on my hand is not the real one that’s in my jewelry box.

I seriously suggest you check out their rings! I’ll see if I have a picture of a side-by-side to send you.

My suggestion if you want a real diamond though would be to do your research on diamonds! Cut carat, clarity, color, and Fire(another one that people don’t typically think about when looking for diamonds) are the main factors to look for, but also Keep in mind, you can get a D class diamond, but if it’s a bad cut, it’s not going to sparkle or have that ‘fire’ that most people want.

We knew we would be getting married before he asked and he asked me for styles that I liked prior to,but my FH proposed without a ring, on a trip in Gatlinburg. He just felt it was the right moment. He went ring shopping the day we got back picked 3 out from different stores for me to choose from, then I went and looked with him and picked the one I like the best. Truthfully if I didn't like any of his choices I could have picked anything else but I absolutely love it and It's perfect. It's from a local jeweler and it was on clearance for 65% off.

Also wanted to say, we like that jeweler so much, we both got out wedding bands there and day of jewelry for the wedding and I purchased a nice watch there for him as a birthday present. It seems all the stuff we really like is discontinued or on amazing sales so we've gotten some amazing jewelry there for great prices.Where to get your dream engagement ring for the best price? 1

By the way, the top one is my fake ring. The bottom one is my real ring. Excuse my bad nails, and my real ring looks much better in real life than in the picture LOL

My fiance proposed with a placeholder ring and let me pick it out. My ring is from The Clear Cut but Lauren B Jewelry/Ring Concierge was our second choice

What shape, cut, color and clarity do you want your ring to be, also budget? I recommend getting the diamond alone and then have it set at a jeweler of your choice. If you plan on going the fake route Harro cut moissanite tends to look realer than C&C cuts, although you can still tell if you have a trained eye.

In this video you can see how the others look off compared to the real diamond.

For the setting having a smaller band makes the ring look smaller

My FH picked out my ring on Etsy! They have so many beautiful and unique rings on there, that aren't overly expensive at all! My FH knew that I wanted a Sapphire because that is his birthstone and he found one that came in my favorite color (green), with 4 small diamonds surrounding it. It's very unique and absolutely perfect in my opinionSmiley love

I see it's been a while, but I wanted to chime in. As for finding the perfect engagement ring, there are a few things to consider. First, it's essential to establish a budget and stick to it. You can find beautiful rings at various price points, so don't feel like you have to spend a fortune to get a quality ring
