Where my December brides at?

Donna, on August 12, 2021 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 3 48

Anyone else stressing about the Delta variant trying to ruin your plans again? I'm still steamrolling ahead but worried about spending extra money too far in advance, especially if the vendors have a no refunds policy. What's your plan of attack?

We live in Australia and our government is very cautious when it comes to COVID - we went into lockdown at the end of June after there were less than 50 cases of COVID (there was a rapid outbreak from 1 worker in airport transportation) and now we are still in lockdown 2 months later with more than 300 cases daily. Our lockdown is due to lift at the month's end, though it is unlikely, so we decided recently that we would 'downsize' our wedding.

We already postponed by one year to 12 December 2021 and the reality is that even once we are freed from lockdown, our government will be on very high alert for future outbreaks, and we will have lots of restrictions in place (i.e. capped numbers for weddings, mask restrictions, limited visitors at home etc). Our 150 person grand black tie soiree is now a 45 person intimate ceremony followed by a sit down dinner. We lost $9,500 in deposits doing this but we didn't want to postpone again nor go through the stress of waiting until the last minute hoping for the best.

We live in NC and numbers are rising. Currently we both have Covid-19 and on day 4 of quarantine feelings horrible. We both have been vaccinated since April so it kind of sucks. Our planner is working diligently to make sure we have safety measures and equipment in place for the actual day. We are very nervous, anxious, and overwhelmed to be honest. Great thing our vendors have Covid guidelines as a clause in their contracts so we will be able to reschedule if needed or cancel and receive our money back.

I’ve been having this same anxiety and I have officially decided to postpone (original date 12/19/22😩. )
My mom’s presence is super important to me, but unfortunately her health is fragile. We are likely to have a small private wedding with just our parents early next year ,then do our big ceremony and reception December 2022 .

I’m just like freaking out again because my wedding had been postponed 4 times already! Original date was 4/9/20. Finally thinking it’s happening and this Delta variant comes along!!! I can’t deal anymore! 😩

The most frustrating thing is not knowing. So I’m planning as normal but it’s hard to let myself get excited for a wedding that might be cancelled :/ but if it isn’t cancelled then I would regret not planning everything! It’s a difficult spot we’re all in. Just praying for the bes t

What day are you getting married? We’re getting married in December and we’ve planned to cut guests (if necessary) require COVID testing, masks (if necessary), lastly we will reschedule the ceremony and reception (if necessary)and just go to the courthouse.

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to hear about the deposits but I totally understand not wanting to wait any longer/postpone. I think #covidbrides have gone through more stress than most non covid brides. Sending good vibes your way that you have a beautiful day no matter how it turns out!

I'm so sorry to hear you got covid. I had it last year and it was terrible. Glad your vendors are willing to work with you! I've heard so many horror stories of vendors being sh*ty about the whole situation. Hopefully you get to have a beautiful wedding this year even if it may look differently than what you originally hoped for Smiley heart

Totally get that! We actually had a small legal ceremony last year on our original date so my grandmother could be there because she's very ill and we didn't want to put her at any greater risk. I'm sorry you've had to postpone (it totally stinks) but maybe this way you'll be able to have everything you wanted for your wedding next year! Sending good vibes to you and prayers to your mom! All we can do is try to stay safe right now.

12/31/21 hopefully! It was literally the last day we could move to with our vendors from last year.

Totally! That's kind of where I am. Going ahead with most things (but waiting to the last minute for invites) but its super hard to get excited because I don't want to be let down :/ Praying you get your day this year!

I know that’s the bad part. Great thing we got vaccinated in April so our symptoms aren’t as bad. But these migraines and loss of taste and smell are killing me. I’ve heard a lot of bad stories and a little nervous how ours will turn out. December is only 4 months away.

We are in California and are very concerned about having to either postpone or go through with it as planned but missing guests. We cut more than half of our guest list when we started planning. Unfortunately even with a guest count under 50, only 20 are local. That number also includes part of our wedding party and some parents and siblings. Our wedding is set for our 4 year anniversary so rescheduling would mean another year out. Also we are planning a move across country that has been pushed back due to the wedding. Praying everything works out.

12/31/21 because it was the last day we could reschedule to with old vendors. We're getting married in NY so anything goes, especially with the GOV resigning. Hopefully meeting with our wedding planner/venue in 3 weeks to get a better idea of current covid protocols. Good idea to start an A and B guest list though if cuts are necessary. One last thing to stress about last minute. We got legally married last year so if this wedding gets cancelled due to covid we'll probably just cancel all together and wait for like a 5 year anniversary to throw a party. Kind of a bummer but you gotta do what you gotta do right now. Sending prayers you get your special day this year!

I never got my smell or taste back (13 months later) so I hope you get yours because its so weird living without them! Google "smell training", once you're feeling better. Hopefully you'll be able to bring your smell/taste back! I CANNOT believe December is 4 months away! You just gave me chills. This year is flying by and dragging at the same time.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Most of our wedding guests are out of state too which is a problem if there are quarantine restrictions in the area cause ain't nobody got time, money, or vacation time for that! We had a civil ceremony last year and it was really hard not having everyone we wanted there but we're really happy we did it and that some people were there that are no longer with us. Praying for you guys and hoping everything works out in a way that makes you happy Smiley smile
