Where did you find your non-white gown?

I don't really want to wear white for my wedding, but I wasn't expecting it to be this hard to find a gown that wasn't white. And usually, when you see that there's "other colors," they're just varying shades of...white! Or a really pale pink. I was really in love with a lot of the dresses I saw on...

I was really in love with a lot of the dresses I saw on Azazie, but they just don't really have a good range of colors (beyond that pink mark). To make matters worse, my budget is less than $1000. So...where should I be looking? Smiley sad

This isn’t helpful but the Sottero & Midgley Zander dress is black and it’s a stunner but it’s about $2500 new. Maybe you can find it on a resale site?

I am in the same boat - looking for that non-white (or any variety of white, ivory, champagne, blush, etc) dress but unable to find anything that doesn't look prom-ish. I haven't found anything yet, but I do think that some bridesmaid dresses would be a good option, as well as some I have found on Etsy. I wish you luck and am going to follow your thread since I'm looking for the same info!

Check out CocoMelody. They have plenty of gowns under $1000 and all have the option to be customized to have the color you want

I just received a dress from MatrimonyPrep.com . At first their customer service was great when they were trying to get my business. Then I received my dress. It was:
    • 2-3 sizes too big
    • Much too long
    • Covered in sequins not the advertised beading.
    • The neckline was 4" too high.
    • The zipper was straight down the back instead of on the side as shown.
    • the trim lace on the bodice was poorly sewn.

I could live with or fix some stuff. So I contacted them, asking to have the dress altered to fit the measurements I provided and adjust the neckline if I paid to send it back. They tried to ignore me. Finally they said they finished with my dress and I should find a local seamstress to fix it.

Don't buy from there. I'm so disappointed i can't wear this very expensive dress.

IMO the trick is not to look for a "colorful wedding dress" since few are being made, but to look for a gorgeous gown that will become your wedding dress, if you know what I mean?

I've been on this journey for a while myself, and here's what I've found:

    - Nicer department stores are *great* — check out the "evening" and "formal" sections. I tried a few gorgeous Mac Duggal, Marchesa Notte, and Tadashi Shoji dresses that were all stunning and under $1000; not one was white! Try Nordstrom, Saks, Nieman Marcus, Dillards, and even Macy's. You can also try sights like Farfetch.

    - There are a number of stores on Etsy that do great colorful options. Many don't do returns but a handful do!

    - Chrotonette unique, colorful dresses in your budget. (The currency displayed is Romanian.)

    - Needle & Thread has some unique options (though maybe mostly on the lighter side)

    - Bhldn has some options in their formal or bridesmaid sections that could work

    - Maybe Renegade Bridal?

    - Colorful prom dresses are another option, depending on your style—often much cheaper and in every color under the sun.

Anywhere they sell prom dresses. A lot of those dresses are super fancy and some can pass for a wedding dress. Also David’s Bridal has a special occasion section that has some really nice dresses
