When to start ..

Natalie, on October 19, 2019 at 7:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So i booked my venue (The Rockleigh) over a year in advance. My wedding is June 18, 2020. So now I am just curious when should they reach out to start planning? It was all inclusive so they will be doing the catering and all the staff are supplied by them etc. Should I be the one to reach out? When should the menu be finalized? I just don't want to seem to pushy by trying to finalize details too soon.

Do you have a contract? My venue made timeline to tell us when this should be done. If they didn't do this for you, contact them! They should be happy you're being organized.

Yes we do have a contract and have put a down payment. The only timeline they made for us was when each payment should be made. Deposit to secure the date. Half the total 6 months before and the total should be paid off 2 weeks before the wedding.

I think it's reasonable to have a timeline of what you expect of them then. If you're making a payment at 6 months, they should also have something completed for you too.

I would reach out if only to put the ball in their court. If all of their vendors are in house they know how long it takes to get it all arranged. They should share that info with you.

I would contact them and ask when will we “work together to finalize my event details”? That lets them know you’re interested and hopefully gets the message across.

My venue is also all inclusive. We are getting married 5/2/20. The cake was on us to organize with the bakery even though it was included. And I’ve already done that. They emailed me with our food tasting, maybe 3 months ago, it’s in November.
After we signed our contract we didn’t speak much (we signed about a year out) but prior to signing we were speaking semi daily. Afterwards she gave us a slight timeline saying she would reach out when decisions needed to be made. I took it upon myself to email her with some questions and we met with her 2 weeks ago to look at the chivari chair options, table linens and a few other random questions I had. Other than that, there’s really no reason for me to contact her until probably January. Most things cannot be decided a year out. If I were you I’d reach out to see if she can give you a timeline of when things are going to happen. Most likely you have months to just chill, I would work on the things that are not related to the venue and just mark in your calendar when it’s time to start talking with the venue coordinator again.

My venue is all inclusive and they reached out to me in order to set up the tastings. They said the food tasting should be about 6 months in advance and as a PP mentioned the cake tasting was on us to schedule with the bakery. There wasn’t much correspondence prior to the 6 month mark but it can’t hurt to reach out and just confirm their ideal timeline for scheduling stuff.

Our wedding is June 20, 2020 and our venue is all inclusive too. They gave us a timeline of when the payments were due and said they usually assign coordinators in the fall. We just got assigned our coordinator and met with her last week and the tasting has been scheduled for November. I would reach out to the venue and just ask what their timeline is it can't hurt.

We were in a similar situation, they said everything should be finalized no later than 2 weeks out. We finalized the decorations (included in venue) and bar style about 3 months out and then at 2 weeks out refinalized and confirmed everything

Im getting married at The Rockleigh this Friday 10/25/19! Im going to be very realistic with you, the coordinator for your wedding will be excellent if you reach out to them. But other than that dont expect to hear anything until they are looking for $$. I had pretty much no communication from them unless a payment date was approaching. I had to contact them for anything extra. There was no food tasting it was pretty much all selected by preference and name.

I called to the get inserts for my invitations and that was the first time they mentioned anything about a "Final meeting"

If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message! Im hoping friday goes off without a hitch!
