When to start looking for a wedding dress

I got mine about a year before my wedding too

Our wedding is September 2021 and we got engaged a year ago. Within a month of being engaged I fell in love with my dress and knew that it was the one after I tried it on I stopped looking at dresses. It took 8 months for it to arrive so personally I think if you started looking now that’s totally fine! I love my dress even more then I did a year ago and have no regrets. Once you think you found the dress though you have to make sure you stop looking at other dresses because there’s always going to be new styles coming out. I say it’s worth at least trying the dress on! 😁

I don't think you are too early at all!! I got mine like 3 years ago! LOL, I love mine and still love it to this day and we won't say i do until this year!! LOL

I’m looking Monday for the first time and we set our date for September 19,2021!!! I feel the same way with not wanting to get something too early but at the same time things are so uncertain with Covid that I’d like to look sooner than later just in case.

I found and purchased my dress at 15 months out. No regrets at all
There was no question in my mind, that was my dress.

That's a bummer about not having someone there but its understandable! At least you can zoom/facetime!! I think checking out the ones you found is a good idea!! Be open to ideas though!

My wedding is in August 2021 and I just found and purchased my dress at the end of June. To avoid dress regret you have to stop looking at other dresses lol. I literally unfollowed a lot of pages on my Insta to avoid seeing dresses. But I know what you mean. I had this same concern. Was I committing too soon knowing that designers are just now releasing their fall lines? But there will always be new dresses going out. I don't think it's too early to purchase, but I do think you should make a decision by October. Dresses can take around 6 months to come in.

You're welcome. And yes trust your gut. I have already second guessed my decision. Expect that it will happen. But what I do now is look at the pictures my MOH took of me in the dress and I fall in love with it more everyday. I've also switched my attention to looking at shoes and accessories online. These are just as important and will help you envision the full look.

Our wedding is June 2021 and my first appointment was in May. I finally said yes at the end of June. When you know you'll know I also made sure to stop looking at dresses and got rid of my dress board on Pinterest. I literally look at the pictures I got in my dress all the time so I know it's the one Good luck with your hunt!

My wedding is in October 2021 too, and I bought mine two weeks ago. I tried it on alone at an appointment first and fell in love but was worried about buying too early. I made an appointment with the MOH and one of the bridesmaids a few days later to make sure I still loved it before I bought it though.


I’m not really worried about dress resentment or anything now. I’ve always had somewhat of an idea of the style I like and tried on a variety of dresses to see if I might like something else. But ultimately I knew I’d regret it more if I made myself wait and the bridal shop stopped carrying it in a few months or something. So I say go for it if you find the one.
