When to leave reception?

When are you planning to leave your reception? Will you and your new spouse leave a little early for some alone time, or will you stay until the party ends? Are you planning on doing a grand exit or leaving unannounced?

Why on earth would anyone leave their own wedding early?

We are leaving ASAP. I'm being totally selfish for one day of my life. My family are great hosts and I'm not worried about anything. My mom is literally a saint for taking over everything so we wouldn't have to worry about anything!

I plan on being there till the end, but this is also why my reception only goes till 10.

We're leaving at the very end and then going on to an after party. And will probably be the last to leave there as well. Our reception only goes til 7 though! I have a very hard time staying up and out past 10.

If we had a DOC, we would have invited everyone to follow us to the bar afterwards by dancing out of the venue to an upbeat/last song. But no DOC means we will just announce before our last song that guests can go to the bar n we'd meet them there....not much decor n we can tear it down in 15 minutes.

@Ksquared ME TOO! I usually go to bed early and our reception goes until midnight. After starting hair at 7-8am, it's going to be a loooooong day.

We have a lot of family who may not attend the reception ( older folks who can't be out for long without getting uncomfortable) and we have some that will stay for dinner then leave because they don't approve of alcohol, dancing, etc. we will be doing an "exit" from our ceremony and having everyone blow bubbles as we do the recessional. Then at the reception we will stay til the end to make sure everything g is taken care of and cleaned and vacated by midnight

We are having a fun exit with confetti, so we will stay most of it but leave towards the end when out reservation time is up!
