When to book hair and make up

I'd reach out to the HMUAs you're considering and ask when they typically book up for September weddings. I think you're probably safe to book a year in advance (maybe 6 months in advance depending on the person), but if the person you want is really high in demand then you may want to book sooner!

If you want someone who has great reviews and you know is popular, I would reach out to book right away! I did not wait on my vendors since I do not live anywhere near the area and I wanted the best I could get for a June wedding! Luckily, I did not have much trouble. One photographer was suddenly unavailable after I told him I already had a wedding coordinator (he was trying to suggest one who I later found to be his wife). The only time I waited and lost out was our accommodations! I was looking at Airbnb's last year and when we went to book in January, it was already gone! I was so shocked that early!

I just booked my HMUA for our May 2020 wedding. When I started researching vendors for this, I asked them how far out they were booked, because I didn't want to find someone I liked, only to have them tell me they didn't have my date available. The one I chose is very busy with weddings, and she does sometimes book a year in advance. So, I'm glad I found her when I did.

I booked my HMUA a year in advanced. Even when I was on my search then some good artists were already booked for my day. So if you have an artist in mind that you want 100% I would definitely recommend booking at least a year in advance if not even a little earlier.
