When should the guys really get fitted?

Sarah195, on May 24, 2016 at 7:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

FH and I picked out the groomsmen attire at Men's Wearhouse at the end of February and let all of the guys know they will need to get fitted. Well now we are nearly 4 months out and only FH's youngest brother has done it. When should the guys ideally all have this done by? I have been assuming it's not as important as buying a bridesmaid dress since it won't take months to get in right?

Every shop is different, ask the shop when is the ultimate latest that they can accommodate.

Men's Wearhouse told FH and I the sooner the best (obviously). Our WW checklist said grooms attire by June 10th I am assuming it's the same time frame for the GM too. I have a wedding planner that says by the end of July.

When we went, he told us not to go too early. They said by 2 months out.

I've been letting FH handle the Men's Wearhouse arrangements (they added a shirt to our order we didn't want and it took forever for FH to finally call them about it) but now I might have to just call and ask myself lol.

I work at a local tux shop in New Orleans. We turn weddings around in less than a week if necessary, but when couples come in with lots of time I ask them to get everyone in 2 months before the wedding. Leaves time for anything unexpected, and best case scenario everything is ready a month+ in advance.

Men's Wearhouse told us by February for our September wedding, which I thought was super early, but they said it's because it allows them to make sure they have everyone's size in inventory for your event, especially with a popular suit. That being said, not all our guys went by the "due date" but they're all done now.

ETA - we are doing rentals, so not sure how that affects things.

I think it depends on the MW location. We were told "no changes 2 weeks prior to the event," And that final measurements had to be called in by then. None of our GM live within 2 hours of a MW

We did tux rentals at Men's Wearhouse. It depends on which tux it is and how widely available it is, but for ours (the gray Vera Wang one) they only needed a couple weeks. Since you already picked out what they're wearing, just call the store and ask when they all need to be fitted by.

We had guys getting fitted 3 weeks before our wedding. at MW. I think after that it becomes a RUSH order.

We're renting through Men's Warehouse too. I signed up with them at a wedding show and they set our fit by date based on that instead of our wedding date. When I asked the guy in the store about it, he said he can't change the fit by date (which actually passed before we even went in and picked the guys' attire) but as long as everyone is done before the two week mark nobody will have to pay rush fees. So far only our BM got fitted, but it doesn't really matter at this point.

The shop would definitely know best, but we rented from Jos. A Bank and my brothers both did theirs under a month out and were fine. We actually had 3 change orders overnighted to us as well when some things didn't quite fit.

Lol. DH and his GM were fitted within 6 weeks of the wedding. They've got plenty of time. This is one of those things I would not stress over. Call MW and ask.

I just called and they said that it should have been done a month after picking out the attire but the guy told me that they could come in whenever is convenient for them and that there's no rush.

The one near us told FH come back in February for a May wedding. It's only him and a BM.

Every location is different. We got ours through Friar Tux and FH didn't go until 3 weeks before and was totally fine. Some of the groomsmen went even later than that. It was a little busier at the store because of prom season, but there were no issues with the reservation.

I've had a bitch of a time with them. They almost made my dad look like Johnny Cash. All of our guys are fitted but they can get refitted two weeks to the wedding.

Call them and ask. We got married late October. The guys went in August/September to get fitted. We used Men's Wearhouse.

ETA: Always check everything before you leave the store. My sister used another tux place. They sent my dad home with white shoes for his black tux. Fortunately he caught it the day before so he was able to exchange them.
