When is a good time to start planning?

Annette , on January 3, 2017 at 11:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hello everyone. I just got engaged on Christmas Eve..Well we have two small children who are 2 and 1. And we wanted to have a long engagement due to us moving in 2017 and wanting our babies to be a bit older so they can participate more in our day. Plus planning a wedding with two toddlers doesnt sound fun .. so our date is for October 2020..when should I start planning?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated thank you

A year is plenty of time if you don't have too many DIY projects and having a small wedding. Otherwise, I would say a year and a half.

I would start planning around the 1-1.5 years out. October is a busy wedding month so look at booking your venue and other high demand vendors more than year out just in case. If you're having a more casual wedding I would wait until about a year out.

Thank you.. He really likes our date 10/10/20 and since it's a play on numbers I have a feeling it's going to be a busy wedding date. So I'm sorta worried about booking vendors and the venue but don't wanna look crazy for planning so early

Today is my 1 year "engagement anniversary". Aside from my venue, photographer and dress, I am just starting to really get into planning. I will say that time flies and it will get here before you know it!

I suggest making a list of things you need/want to do for your wedding and the planning and balance it out so you don't have a million things to do in 1 month or last minute. There are some great checklists on this site, as well as pinterest with timeline suggestions of what to plan and when!

I would start looking January 2019 to ensure you lock in dates for venue of your choice since October is a busy month.
