All of our contracts are different. Some broken up into 3 payments, some just deposit and then balance 30 days prior. Right now we've paid a little over 1/2 of the total.

It will depend on the vendor. I only had to pay ahead for my cupcakes.

The venue I had to pay like three installments. My florist I paid ahead of time when they were starting to order things for my bouquet.

Everything else I paid day of. Well, H did. I was busy getting pretty.

We paid in advance. We had certain amount we had to put down as two different deposits then paid the balance based on ours RSVPs a week prior.

My venue required a deposit, and then half was due 90 days out, and the rest was due 30 days out. For my caterer, half was due 30 days before, and then the final amount was charged to the card on file day of. DJ was half due 90 days before, and the rest was due one week before. Our cake required a deposit and then paying the rest a week before but we got a 20% discount if we paid up front so we just did that instead. All of the info was on our contracts though and we ended up paying most of them before the deadlines just to get it out of the way.
