When did you buy your dress?

Wedding date is 9/25/22, when should I start to look? I’m at the 18 month mark.

You can start looking now and trying on styles but don't buy before 9 months before the wedding.

If you have no idea what you want, I'd start looking around a year out from your wedding. If you buy too early, you might end up regretting it later, as many ladies have done on this site!
I bought mine 9 months out since the bouquet estimated 6 months for it to come in, but it ended up coming up in in 3 months.

I started looking on Pinterest for inspiration photos for some ideas. Our wedding is on 4/3/21 & I bought my dress in June ‘20. I’m doing my last alterations appointment this Saturday.

Whatever you do, don’t buy yet. Chances are high you’ll second guess yourself and find other styles you may want to try on. But if you have time, I’d go to a bridal shop and try on various styles (even the ones you would never consider).

I got my dress 15 months early. I knew I wasn’t going to change much in size, and I made sure to get a dress that was about one size larger.

Totally fine to start looking! Unless you buy from David’s, most gowns will take 6-8 months to arrive and you want to start alterations about two months before your wedding. You have time to look at a few shops and then buy around the 12 month mark if you find the one.

I’m 2 days before you! I’m going to start looking about a year out. Most of the bridal shops around me have BIG sales November/ October to make way for their new gowns coming in. I’m not too particular in getting a “2022” dress if that means I can get a deal or possibly get two dresses. Styles can change so often! I have definitely started to “save “ some styles that I like tho.

I kind of did my looking and buying at the same time, 9 months out. After searching online through many styles I found the dress I loved and knew was my dress. So when I went in person and tried it on I still felt the same way and bought it. 9 months out the latest to buy but you can start looking whenever you like.

I'm getting married 9/2/22 planning on going about a year out to really start looking.

My mom used to own a bridal store, so I'm taking her lead on this since she know best time frames.

We have been discussing taking a weekend and going to David's Bridal just to play and try some stuff on, to see what we like. I don't plan on purchasing from David's (as the daughter of a previous small bridal salon owner I prefer to shop local than at a big chain) but it'd be nice to play around a little to find what I prefer silhouette wise.

I bought my dress in November 2019 for my October 2020 (now October 2021) wedding. I wanted to start about a year out to ensure I had plenty of time. Now with production delays and shipping delays, I would start in the next couple of months for your September 2022 wedding.

My wedding is in April and I bought my dress after Christmas, and it took less than 2 weeks for it to come in. I had my first fitting last week and she said she should be able to get all of the alterations done in one fitting.

I don't think it's too early to start looking at all! I purchased my dress 12 months out. I was quoted a production time of 7-9 months for my dress to come in, so had I not started looking until 9 months out, I would have been SOL.

It depends on the shop! Some shops can get dresses really quick and others take a while, especially if you need alterations then that takes time to! They say to start looking at least a year before and then just see what each shops delivery time and alteration timeline is like!
