Oh yeah, mirrors aren't cheap. I'm using 6 in rounds for my center pieces and they are like $10-$15 each. Or something like that.

The only suggestion I could offer is try to find coupons for them. I know Joann and Michaels, (where I am purchasing mine), Always have a 50% or 40% off coupon in their weekly adds. I just buy them each separately.

Do they have to be that large? would you be open to smaller?

Dollar Tree. Not sure if they'd be big enough...but $1 is worth a shot!

The price went up as soon as people started using them for weddings

Exactly what I was going to say MJ. Weddings are big business.

Can you use full-size (60") mirrors on every other table or something to minimize the number you need? Have a group of smaller mirrors on the other tables?

I HAVE AN IDEA. Its maybe not as good, but the closest thing I could think of: Trace a circle the exact size of your table top (do the tables have glass? Trace the glass) onto a sturdy piece of poster board. Then, search high and low until you find the perfect shade of silver spray paint. Spray the board silver and use as an insert under the glass. It wont be mirrored, so not quite so cool, but it will still reflect light and it is way way way easier to transport than mirrors. Thats all I got. Hope it helps, maybe spark some other similar ideas for you. This was an awesome question btw.

OR You could get those long rectangular mirrors that are $5 at Wallmart and take the frames off of them and use them on buffet tables!!! :-0!

What about getting glass pieces that size (I don't know what they would cost, so this is just a what-if!) and using the "mirror spraypaint" that Krylon or whoever it is sells on the underside, so it makes it into a mirror? Would that work? It might cut the cost, since you're essentially making your own mirror, and since you're painting the part that will be against the table, there's less of a chance of a guest accidentally scratching off the paint and giving away your secret. Would your venue be willing to split the cost with you and they keep the mirrors after your reception (because what would you do with a bunch of 60" rounds?)?
