Whats the purpose of a ceremony program?

I've never been to a wedding thats had any but it sounds interesting to me. Could someone explain it so maybe i can figure out if i want any at my wedding!

    Does a few things - gives the order of the service. If you go to a church where these are given out every Sunday people expect them at your wedding. It explains any special traditions (jumping the broom, sand ceremony, etc.). It gives guest something to read/do before the ceremony begins. It is a place to share special readings, in memory of, thanks. It tells who is in the wedding party. We are also including our reception "program" in the wedding program. If you would like my template, PM me. I will admit mine might be a little over the top, but the "paper" of a wedding is my thing.

    Also Edubbs basically said this, but listing them also is a way to publicly (well kind of publicly lol) thank your wedding party and give them their due credit. I'm doing rack cards from vistaprint I think.

    Well whats a wedding program all about, i know about a ceremony but is the wedding one like ceremony and reception. What would be in the reception one?

    Hm I think some people have reception programs..just with like menu and a schedule of the special events..no wedding I was ever at had one though, I won't be doing one of those. the DJ will just announce things, and they will already know their meal choice.

    Dj announcing everything sounds like a winner to me!! But maybe a small ceremony program to give thanks to those that should get thanks, and to list the names of those walking in the wedding. I could do that, it sounds like fun!
