whats the proper order of wedding party entering the reception?

heather, on July 29, 2012 at 4:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

We are having the groomsmen just stand up at the altar with fh so no one will be paired up..also do the parents get announced too and in what order.?.this is so confusing!

At the RECEPTION, parents can be announced and even the grandparents. Then the wedding party, then B&G.

Are you doing them as couples for the reception? If thats your plan then I would probably just randomly couple up the bridesmaids/groomsmen and then have your best man/moh together, then you guys...parents, I honestly haven't been to a wedding where its done, but I'm sure its done and that would be completely up to you guys, I would probably do parents at the very beginning.

I dont know..i just know that my moh and her husband are both in the wedding but he is just a groomsmen..so it would be kinda weird to have them walk with other people..thats why we are just having the groomsmen stand at the altar.

Would it bother them to walk in together with a different person? I know that FH is in a tight group of 5 guys and they are always each others wedding party, there were two weddings that had the husband and wife both in the party but not together. I would ask them if they are comfortable with it, if they aren't you can always have the girls walk in as a group and maybe the guys as a group instead of one by one?

Most weddings I've been to its been the groomsmen & bridesmaids paired together as they were lined up at the ceremony. That's what we did at ours. Our GM were just standing with DH at the altar as well, but they did escort the BMs back down the aisle during the recessional.

Another thing I've seen done could work for you. At my cousin's wedding, the members of the bridal party entered/were announced with their dates/significant others. Just make sure the best man and maid of honor are the last to enter before you and FS. You can have your parents introduced as well, and if so, I would have them enter first - groom's parents then bride's parents just like the start of the ceremony.

Heather, your wedding party wasn't paired up for the processional, but what about the recessional?

Oh geeze didn't think about the recessional..everyone has a a spouse in the wedding party except the best man and 2 bridesmaids.i have 6 brides maids including MOH.but two are my sons aunts who are pulling him in a wagon but they both have husbands that are groomsmen.then i have 4 guys including BM..so its uneven..what a mess this is going to be.
