Whats the point of the freaking garter anyway?

I think the tradition stems from a practice long ago when families sought proof that the marriage was consummated... so someone would fetch the bride's undergarments to show to everyone as proof that the deed was done. Or something like that.

Thanks Doddie for those links! LOL. I'm not doing the bouquet toss or the garter toss in my wedding. I think during the bouquet toss there will only be 1 single woman out there- IF she even decides to come now that she is no longer a bridesmaid. LOL.

I don't see the point either, I'm wearing one just because it's Miami Dolphins and it goes with the Dolphins cheerleading outfit one of my friends bought me for the honeymoon..lol. There is no tossing of it though, my friends are all old like me (and will probably be drunk enough to fall into the pool!)

Jessy D- You are right, I read the same. Crazy isn't it? I had my step mom make my garter after seeing one I feel in love with that was way overpriced, it looked gorgeous but wouldn't stay on so I took it off and used the "throw away" one for the toss, the throw away one fell off too so I never actually wore mine until the last minute, LOL.

I'm wearing a garter..found a Minnie Mouse one to go with my mickey and minnie theme..but its so cute Im not sure if I wanna toss it lol..
