What's the best wine for toasting ?

FutureMrsHodges, on October 2, 2011 at 2:15 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Since we are buying all of the alcohol ourselves. I don't have a clue what type of wine to get for the wedding toast .

Typically champagne is what is used for toasts. However, you can pretty much toast using/drinking anything! If you have a signature drink for your nuptials, you can have all of the guests drink that. If you want, you could do a white wine...or you could always have your guests choose their own beverages and toast from there! That might save you the headache of finding something. A chardonnay or a white zinfandel might also work. I would shy away from toasting with a red wine because typically that is more of an acquired taste. Make sure to have a non-alcoholic drink, like sparkling water or other beverage as an option for your guests.

In theory, you could use anything. A signature drink is fine, but probably more expensive than going with a sparkling wine, which is more traditional.

Verdi and Frexinet are two relatively inexpensive sparklings to choose; there are a lot of proseccos that cost under 10.00 a bottle (4-6 glasses). They also come in double size bottles which are usually less expensive.

You could absolutely do a toast with whatever they are drinking already, but I personally like the festivity of a champagne toast.

Don't choose red. It stains, lol.

Actually I think Moscato or Prosecco are great wines to toast with.
