What’s the best way to pick out flower girls dresses?

Melissa, on June 17, 2019 at 8:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
So I’ve got all the bridesmaid dresses picked out except for my niece on my side of the family, I’m allowing my sister to choose her dress, as she is still a child. My only request is it match the color of the other dresses (blush). Should I let my sister in law do the same for her daughter who is the flower girl? Is this proper etiquette? I just want the easiest and affordable option as I’m not a picky bride as long as the color matches.

    Hey Melissa!
I did the exact same thing! My flower girl will be almost 3 at my wedding.
I actually told her Mom, that she has free reign on her dress.
I'm using a lot of color so anything will go.
In your case, giving the color guideline was perfect!
I think the mother's will know what will suit their daughters best.
I'm sure she will give you final say, and veto power.
    Good luck!
    Congratulations!

Giving the mom power to choose is a great idea! She can find something in her budget that her daughter will want to wear!

I picked my flower girl outfit by coordinating with the mom. We would send ideas back and forth, but ultimately, she wanted me to choose. I think either way is acceptable. Good luck!

My cousin picked her daughter (the flower girl) dress out. It kind of matches mine & was cheap ($40).

I am having the mother of my flower girls pick out the dress. I gave her free reign as long as it is white and has some sort of lace on it. They will also have flower crowns which will look like the crown I will be wearing. The mom will be able to pick something in her price range that she knows will look good on her daughter! Best of luck Smiley smile

For my first marriage, I asked my cousin's daughters to be my flower girls. My cousin is awesome at making dresses so I told her as long as the dresses were white and had a blue sash, she could make them however she wanted. This time around, my daughter is my flower girl. I let her decide which dress she wanted based off of a few I picked at the salon.

I say as long as you give her your guidelines, let the mother pick out the dress. Maybe ask her to just confirm it with you before she purchases it to be sure it fits with the others.
