Burbs of Chicago and we’re paying about $100 per person for apps, drinks and a meal and ceremony. Cheapest we could find for a venue with outdoor and indoor space.

Wholey moley! I thought $60-80 per person was alot! I mean I get that you want good food so it's totally worth it. One venue I am looking at is $5,000 but it includes buffet for 125 people, I'm hoping the food is good.

That seems pricey to me, but based on what others are saying it’s not. We’re having a family owned BBQ food truck do Buffett catering for us. It’s about $7/person. Although that’s only food and no extras.

It depends on the catering company, your venue and dinner service you're having. My husband and I chose a buffet for our wedding and paid $1600 for 125 people. We went through a local restaurant as our caterer. If we would've gone with our venue's catering for a buffet it would've been $28 pp. If we did a sit-down through our venue it would've been closer to $45 pp. We got very lucky that our venue allowed outside catering as long as they approved the vendor. We aren't fancy and didn't want a huge fancy dinner, so using a local restaurant worked best for us.

We are paying $1900 for 60 people. We’re having a bbq caterer. He brings the smoker right to our venue and cooks all the meats on site, we have a couple appetizers, they supply iced tea and lemonade with the ice and cups, all of the plates/silverware/napkins, and it is full service.

That is an insane deal. We were quoted $10,960 for 50 guests. It includes buffet, dessert & open bar. It’s also at an all-inclusive resort so I know those include all sorts of fees / surcharges.
