We were thinking of doing buffet but when I mentioned it to my FML she flipped out and said no that doesn’t go with a tux event. 😂 my in-laws are houty touty people.
Also when I said chicken to cut cost, my FFL said uhh no, steak or roast..... I’m like ummmm okay I’ll deal with the alcohol 😂😂
I wasn’t paying for it anyways but I wanted to be helpful and cut costs.

    That sounds delicious!

    We're planning on doing:

    -Grilled Chicken

    -Roast Beef

    -Chicken Legs

    -Mac and Cheese

    -Green Beans

    -Mashed Potato Bar

    -Rolls

    -Salad

Our wedding cake (strawberry & lemon cake) and groom's cake (chocolate fudge with chocolate ganache, cookies & cream with marshmallow filling, and almond wedding cake) will be the main desserts. We're, also, probably going to get some chocolate covered strawberries as well!

At the cocktail hour, we're going to have different kinds of cheese and breads and different kinds of pickles.

I guess it makes sense for buffet style weddings, having a lot of options to make the tables more full etc. We are literally giving people no choice, haha either you eat the beef or fill up on bread and dips at the table along with salad. We are having 1 serve per 2 tables.

We're also doing a buffet and have the following penciled in (though we may make changes once we do the tasting and get closer to the event):

    Garden Salad
    Flank Steak
    Chicken Piccata
Roasted Veg Pasta with Tomato Herb Creme
    Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
For dessert, we'll have our cake, and I plan on doing a late night snack s'mores bar.

That's understandable since yours is served! We're doing a buffet and wanted people to have several options. Our caterer is a distant relative so we're getting a great deal on the food as well. We're planning on having 200 people so that's another reason there's so much, and we really wanted a wedding cake, groom's cake, and chocolate covered strawberries!

For cocktail hour we served 4 hors d'oeuvres: beef empanadas, tostones with guacamole, pineapple pulled pork on a tostada, and a steak bruschetta.
For dinner we had: house-made focaccia for the table, a seasonal salad with a poppy seed dressing, Chianti braised short rib, roasted chicken with herbs, garlic mashed potato, roasted and lightly fried brussel sprout, and a honey roasted carrot. We did family style for dinner so our guest got to try everything.
Our cake was an apple cider cake with a white chocolate ganache and a maple bourbon buttercream. We got married last week so we wanted flavors that were on season.

For apps during cocktail hour we had: cheese and crackers, fruit and veggie trays, meatballs, tomato and mozzarella skewers, chicken bites, and scallops wrapped in bacon

Our first course was a house salad with our venue’s homemade vinaigrette.

Guests chose between a stuffed chicken breast, beef tenderloin, and butternut squash ravioli for entrees. The beef and chicken both came with roasted potatoes and all three dishes came with roasted veggies (squash and zucchini).

For dessert our venue served our cake with vanilla ice cream. Our cake flavors were chocolate with Oreo filling and marble with strawberry filling all with buttercream frosting.

The venue also did a gluten free version of the stuffed chicken for the 5 guests we had that had gluten intolerances/allergies.

That’s nice, you are catering to people’s needs. We got lucky in that instance, we aren’t having any dairy in the wedding, besides the cake and at the end of the wedding, not everyone will be there, and no one is against beef😂

Our guest list is a little over 300, but we're thinking around 200 will show since it's almost 3 hours away from my hometown!

All sounds awesome. I’m so happy I get to bake my own cake. I bake as a hobby and I’m so lucky the venue and catering is allowing me to do this. Of course in their kitchen 😂
