We're planning to wait about a year before starting our family, but in that year I expect that we'll bee looking at doing an addition on our house, as well as potentially starting another real estate project if we can find investors. We'll start planning our honeymoon after the wedding.

Next big step is a house next year. I am almost more excited about that than I was about the wedding. I can't wait until we have a place that is OURS. It's going to be amazing!!!

We are DEFINITELY looking to buy a house ASAP after the wedding. We are also hoping to start a family soon afterward but may wait a year until we start trying.

I will be going back to school after we get married. Actually I am starting a new job on Monday that will help pay for some schooling AND my new work schedule works better with class hours. We will also be looking for a house most likely, we haven’t really talked about it just yet but we both are getting tired of apartment living and my FH has mentioned houses a few times in passing.

We're married now, but we didn't really expect big changes after. Waited 6 months to go on a honeymoon. One year later, now redecorating our condo. Omg, window treatment $$ 😱. I DO wish we planned our year-end tax situation sooner because marriage moved us into a different tax bracket after my raise. Making it Legal penalized us. 💸 Yes, Joint Financial Planning & Investing (vs separately) should have been our next big life event. But, it's never too late to strategize how to keep your $ out of govt 🤲

When it comes to tax bracket if you feel it is more harm than good to file as married joint on the returns then you can file as married filing separate in which you both would be filing your own returns still showing married status but accountable for your own income and financial obligations.

Very cool! The addition on the house is exciting, that would be a fun thing to design. Do you have an idea of where to go for your honeymoon? Or waiting until after the wedding to decide?

That is super exciting!! My husband and I just bought a house, and while the process was frustrating at times, it was totally worth it in the end. You'll love having a place that you own! Looking at houses is fun, especially seeing all the different layouts and getting ideas of what you like and don't like.

We have a few ideas- Cambodia, Thailand, Egypt. Honestly I'd never thought of Egypt and now after looking at it I think that could be really cool!!!

Yes, thank you. We had our accountant look at both options and it was still disappointing. I initially wanted to sort and discuss our financials with a prenup, but then we pushed up our wedding and focused on that. It's def on my mind now as we have 1.5 months to conclude 2022 giving and 401k maximums.

After getting married our next step was to buy a home. We finally accomplished that this year right before our 3rd anniversary.

Caitlin, do you have an LLC? I think that's what I really want as my next big step after wedding. Put off redecoration.

Not at the moment but I do love design so that could be fun! We're wanting to do a cottage home cluster on a large lot in the area to try and start to boost the density of affordable housing.

Next steps for us were to relax for a year and save after the wedding. We are starting to look for a house and planning to start a family!

I will be defending my dissertation a month of getting married so I will become a Doctor of Education! Our honeymoon will be in October since we are going to Japan, really excited for that! We already have a house and are both pursuing new careers so once that is established we will begin to plan the rest.

We're almost recovered from all the post-wedding cleanup lol. Our next move is just to get a game plan together for the holidays since all of that got pushed to "after the wedding." Once we're back in the regular swing of things in the new year we want to start house hunting.

Michelle sorry that’s a busy few months. I was married 17 years in my first marriage and we never filed taxes today not 1 single year. We never merged any kind of finances so I bet it’s been challenging so early on. Congrats and good luck.
