What would you have done differently?

I thought I knew so much about wedding planning, but did I ever get schooled. Looking back, there are some things I would have done differently. Even though everything turned out well, things could have gone better. I would have...

- Spent less on save the dates/invitations. I got many compliments on both, but less than 50% of people actually turned their response cards in. I should have gone with a less glitzy package or simply settled on something from Vista Print.

- Not tried to re-create my "dream dress". I couldn't afford my $7K fav, so I tried to make a less expensive one fit my vision, and I made myself miserable. The dress I ended up with, I liked for its own merits.

-Chilled out on Craig's List. I got a little trigger happy and bought stuff I really didn't need...and now I have to get rid of that AND the stuff I ended up using. A little patience would have went a long way.

-Researched vendors more on my own. I just kinda went with what my planner suggested.

    We would have probably eloped.

Also would have budgeted way better! It's so out of control now. Smiley sad

Yeah, I have to agree with sticking to the budget. I also should have researched prices of things BEFORE we started making reservations here and there. Some of the things in the area we are getting married at are expensive and my idea of what things should cost and what they actually cost are very different. I'm happy we had some flexibility, but it would have been nice to save that money for something else. I'm starting have a change of heart on the little odds and ends that seemed so important to purchase at one point, i.e. Sand Ceremony, programs, sign for the sweetheart table, etc. I've decided to keep it simple. It's stuff that we won't ever use again or that people will throw away. In the end, the only thing people will really remember (I hope) is the ceremony, the food, the drink, and the company. Smiley smile

-I liked our photographer but I might looked for someone who was more artsy. This is strictly going off of the photos I have seen on here.

-Spent more time mingling vs running around with the photo/video guys.

-Double checked with the hall about the table numbers to ensure they followed my floor plan (lame family blow out over where people sat).

    -Gotten a bigger card box.

-I should of actually been more dedicated to dieting and working out.
