Must haves for me are: Ability to hold ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in same place. Outdoor and indoor options. Staffing and security. Architecture, to save on decoration cost having great architecture and lighting.

My must have was on the beach. Luckily my BFF and her husband bought a house right on the beach and offered for us to be married there. I can't imagine another venue that would have worked out better. They completely remodeled the home. It was finished the day before the wedding. They hadn't even spent a night there yet! But it was perfection. We are SO grateful to them for helping make our dream come true!

We are still evaluating venues. Here is our list...

*Vermont barn wedding venue! No hotels or country clubs or other location. Must have a barn for the reception (and the ceremony, if it's raining). NO TENTS! Neither one of us likes weddings or receptions that are held under tents.

*As much "one stop shopping" as possible - I don't want to have to spend extra energy tracking down vendors for linens, dishes, chairs, etc. The venue needs to have those available.

*Accommodations available onsite for the wedding party. To include a bridal suite for me to get all dolled up there with my bridesmaids.

*We want the venue for the whole weekend - it pains me to think of being rushed into and out of the wedding spot within an 8 hour span, that's crazy!

*A vibe that suits us. Upscale but not obnoxiously hoity toity; basically, a really nice location that's also "down to earth" and not pretentious at all.

*We want to be able to pick our own caterer, not be forced into whichever one the venue makes us use.

*They need to have a liquor license; we don't want to fool around with getting permitting for alcohol to be served onsite.

A place where both the ceremony and reception can be was #1. #2 was to have an option that if it was bad weather we could have the ceremony at another spot just as beautiful as the outside. and boom we got what we wanted haha!

A MUST was a view. I also had water element, bonfire option, and on site accommodations, which I also ended up getting. Very blessed to have found something that went above and beyond my expectations.

That's awesome! What kind of water will you be on, a river/lake or by the ocean?

Must haves for my FH and I were: something with sentimental value to us, outdoor space for ceremony/cocktail hour, and a vintage/rustic vibe. We found it all at our venue in South Jersey when we found out the place where my FH volunteered for many years was being renovated for weddings (Bishop Farmstead!). Gorgeous outdoor area, small walking paths around the grounds, and 3 different spaces for ceremony/cocktail hr/reception, and an incredible caterer (JAM) working with them to boot Smiley smile Can't wait until our wedding on 9/6/19!

Had to have two indoor venues on the same property. I did not want an outdoor ceremony and I didn’t want my guests to travel far and didn’t want it to have to be crammed having the ceremony and reception all in one room! I also wanted a bridal suite but wasn’t a necessity. The venue I chose had everything I wanted and more. We’re all staying on Cabins on the property and it’s all inclusive so they do my catering, my florists, and my decorating/planning! So less stressful for me since I’m a wedding planner and I didn’t want to have too much responsibility to do everything myself the day of! I also wanted a long aisle and mine is sooo long and I love it (not sure why, just what I always envisioned)

Our must haves were that we wanted the ceremony and reception to be in the same place. We wanted the ceremony space to be flexible so we could have two aisles if we wanted (originally we were going to walk down the aisle at the same time). NO STAIRS. It was a personal nightmare of mine to have to walk down stairs as part of the aisle. Indoor and outdoor space so we could really get creative with ideas and what we wanted. Ample parking (so many places downtown did not provide parking... yuck). Bridal Suite... and last but not least, a space we could have all day long!

Forested area for ceremony, indoor/outdoor reception and both of us were firm on NOT being in a barn. Well, our venue is technically referred to as a barn but it doesn't look like one. So I guess we kind of got what we wanted? Haha.

Most of our family invited to the wedding lives in another state. We wanted a location that was a nice middle ground so they could join us for the special day. We also wanted something that had both a beautiful outdoor and indoor space, always have a backup! We also want to DIY a lot, so we did not want an inclusive wedding. We are hoping to make our wedding our own, so inclusive was not a good option for us.

It was our second tour lol. We booked same day. I did research about 6 other ones and had appointments set up, but I ended up canceling the rest.
