What was your Wedding gown turnaround time? Help!

Courtney, on June 17, 2014 at 1:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Hi ladies I just purchased my Matthew christopher gown last Thursday( 6/12/14) they told me I should expect my dress around the holidays in December latest January so about 6-8 months. What was your ACTUAL turnaround time after purchasing? Also how long did alterations take?

I found my dres 2/19 and it was in 6/11. I was originally told it would be here in mid-July. I will be picking in up this weekend so not sure on alterations yet. I have been told, depending on how complicated the dress is and how busy your seamstress is at the time, it could be 1 week to 2 months.

I ordered my dress on Black Friday and it came in at the beginning of February BUT, my gown was a part of a trunk show where the designer was testing out the market for the gown. My bridal shop said that my timing and the fact that my size was a common sample size were probably related to the fast turnaround time. Also, remember that in can really vary between designers.

In any case, you'll have plenty of time between when your gown comes in and your wedding date!

6 months- for my alterations she only needed me to come in 6 weeks before and she is having them done in about three weeks.

I ordered mine in the middle of January, a mere 2 weeks after getting engaged. They told me it would come in the first week of july. I still don't have it. Smiley sad I'm hoping it will come in even a week early, but it is not looking good at this point.

I ordered 4/24 and got the call last week it is in. Need to get alterations done still so we'll see what turnaround time on that is. They said their first available fitting appt was 7/15. My dress is a David Tutera I ordered from a local bridal salon so kind of surprising it didn't take that long.

Mine took a little more than 6 months.

The Chinese New Year affects dresses ordered in the fall/winter because the factories/dress makers close for a year.

If you order in the spring/summer, this shouldn't be an issue. At least, this is what I have been told...
