What was your dream wedding as a child?

Amanda, on April 29, 2019 at 7:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 29

My dream wedding always had me being given away by my dad and surrounded by family and friends without conflict. I wanted it to be simple because to me the most important thing was that the bride and groom were happy with saying I do and that to me was the best part of it all and the rest was just icing on the cake.

You know I never had a dream wedding growing up. I never even saw myself getting married. I only started to think about it after 5 years together, and then he proposed. So I really had to get my vision in order. I just want to keep it simple, with a desert feel (we live in AZ, I love the desert) get married to my best friend, then have some good food & drinks, and dance the night away. As time goes on I'm getting really excited to wear my dress lol. Funny how things turn out as you'd never expect.

That's such a sweet sentiment at such a young age! Aw.

In my 20's, I totally envisioned a big fancy party in a hotel ballroom. At least 100-200 guests with a DJ. Princess wedding dress. Pink colors. Even wedding party. Something from an 80's movie.

Did that happen? Nope. Married in my 40's, I wanted an offbeat and intimate wedding. My hubby felt the same way! We love creativity and ended up having a pirate destination wedding in a wine cave (no wedding party), then a swanky 60's local reception with dinner & dancing reception (a live band and Sinatra impersonator, no DJ). So fun. So us. Totally worth the wait. Oh, but I did wear a princess dress.

    Smiley heart

Mine was always very classic, lots of flowers, clean crisp linens, a little bit glam and vintage. Which is pretty much exactly what I am planning. Definitely not what I did the first time around.

I never dreamed or even thought about my wedding as a kid. Then my first real job starting at age 15 was as a catering server. I worked at hundreds of weddings so that by the time I got married, I knew exactly what I did and didn't want. That made wedding planning super easy!

I never dreamed about a wedding. I honestly didn't think I would ever be at this point in life. But I'm happy my thoughts have changed. Because I am much happier than I've ever been.

I have never dreamed about my future wedding or even about getting married at all, when I was a child... or an adult lol. I was too busy living my life & accomplishing my goals. The first time I started imagining my wedding was few months before FH proposed. Hence, to me that was one of many signs that I want to marry him 😍

Small, candlelit ceremony in a stone chapel with wood beams, wooden pews, and stained glass. Big, vineyard reception with great food, music, lots of dancing, and lots of fairy lights!

I looked into it a little, but the wedding is in western Washington, where everything is super expensive and the weather is most likely rainy in September. I was able to find a really nice event center for free thanks Tony dad and some connections he has, so that was that! At this point, since I've been planning, the simpler the better.

It’s funny I don’t think this was something i ever really thought about as a kid (I’m not sure I even expected to get married). I had no specific desires until my parents bought the property they live on now. I just saw it and thought “wow if I ever have a wedding it should be HERE” ...and so it was! 🤣
