What type of necklace for sweetheart neckline

Ashley, on January 5, 2013 at 5:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I've attached a picture of my dress. I'm having a hard time trying to decide what to do for a necklace. I wasn't sure if I should do one or not at all. What's everyone else doing?

Personally, for a strapless dress I like no necklace because strapless dresses are meant to show off your collarbone and shoulders. I like dangly earrings and/or sparkly headpiece.

I agree. I thought about a necklace with mine, but now that I've finally picked my gown, I'm going to go without wearing my necklace. I wanted to wear the pearls that my mother got for me for my 16th birthday, but I think I may want to incorporate it somewhere in my bouquet instead.

Thanks ladies! I'm also debating about a veil. Maybe I will just look into a pretty head piece and forget about the necklace and veil?

I agreed ^I have a strapless sweetheart neckline, I will be skipping a necklace I am a jewlery gal but will be only doing ring and earrings for the wedding just trying to keep it about me and the dress.

I agree with the earrings and ring, maybe a bracelet if you feel you need a little extra umph. Love your dress choice!

Do just a small "dot" of something and see how it looks, like a single pearl with a little bling. But either way, you'll look great. And you can do a more dramatic earring in lieu of a necklace.

Your dress is gorgeous! I suggest you forgo the necklace and wear long, eye-catching earrings instead! Also, a headpiece with detachable birdcage veil would complete the look in a stunning way! Earrings-something like this, at least 2.5" long: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product73.html and a headpiece like this: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product1112.html. The effect can be stunning!

I had a necklace that had a teardrop pearl. I felt like I looked too bare without a necklace. I think it is all personal preference. I would suggest trying different styles of necklaces on with your dress (like ones you own) and see what you think look good and then go shopping.

I have a sweetheart dress too and I'm thinking of doing a strand of navy pearls with it. I agree with Liz F., I feel like it would be too bare without it. I might change my mind once I try them together though and go without. (My necklace is only 27 dollars though so I won't be heartbroken)

I agree with the idea for a headpiece and/or birdcage veil. That is what I am going with, but I personally don't like long veils.

Thanks ladies for all of your ideas! Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. My son was sick and had multiple doctors appointments. I like the look of the birdcage veil with headpiece, but I have such a round face, I'm wondering if that is the best look for me. I guess maybe I'll have to try one on.

I think necklaces look beautiful with sweetheart strapless dresses. My dress is a sweetheart as well and I chose this statement necklace, however my dress doesn't have all the beautiful ruching and draping that yours has

I agree that a necklace may take away from the neckline but I'm wearing a necklace anyway. I have a sweetheart neckline on my dress and this is what I am going to wear. I hope it goes well together but I really like the bling.

My dress is a deep sweetheart and I think I'll be skipping a necklace and going for some statement earrings instead. IF I do a necklace, it'll be a simple strand of pearls.
