What type of liquor to serve?

I know this is a little soon but I want to start buying bits at a time so I can start accumulating for the wedding... We are providing our own alcohol to our venue. I only drink wine and FH barely drinks so we don't really know what to supply or what "brands" are preferred. It will be an open bar, so the bartender we hired provides the mixers/sodas/etc. I really am clueless here.

What beers would you suggest?

What liquor? I was thinking vodka and rum, any preferred brands? Anything else?

Rayla, thanks so much, I re-read your edits and I'm saving it as well. I didn't realize there was a difference between spiced-rum and dark rum so that shows you how much I know! I will for sure get a bottle of gluten free vodka.

I think we are going to do Yeungling for beers and two other domestics. I'm in Orlando, Florida. I don't know about local craft beers here, but I know there has to be some. I do know there's a brewery in Tampa I could look into for some local beers, I think that would be a great idea!

@Kirackle I don't even know what the difference is between handles and fifths Smiley sad so embarrassing-I just know we'll probably go to Costco where they have the bigger bottles. (ETA: I will have to check into their return/buy back policy)

@ FutureMrsE: If you have a guest that's gluten-free, you might want to ask them if they drink grain-based alcohols. Many, many people do, since distillation destroys much of the gluten. My FH has Celiac though, so he doesn't. Keep in mind that rum is gluten-free, so you'll have at least one gluten-free option with that.

For a great gluten-free option, do a hard cider! I recommend Woodchuck Amber, since it's so easy to get. Hard cider is super popular now too, so I'm sure lots of people would drink it.

Not sure where you are located, I am in MA and we are doing Tito's Vodka for our open bar. $19.99 and much better quality than most vodkas. Also in addition to drink mixers be sure to have garnishs; lime, lemon, etc./
