what to wear under my dress? strapless or torsolette?

Leigh, on February 9, 2013 at 1:08 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to what i should wear under my dress, a strapless bra or one of those tosolettes or bralettes? im not sure what they are called but the are a strapless bra that comes down to your waist and hold you in. when i went shopping for my dress they had me in one of those torsolettes and it was great because it felt more secure then a regular strapless bra but im not sure if i should spend the money on one, they can range from $35-$80. any advice or help would be much appreciated!

I'm going to get one of those things that they make you try on the dress with. it just feels so much more secure like you said. i would worry about a strapless bra moving around too much or anything like it.

They're called longline bras, for ease of internet searching Smiley smile I got mine at Target, but they sell them at a lot of different department stores. I like it because I would be worried that I'd be yanking at my dress all night, feeling like it was falling down or something.

I didn't wear anything under my dress but a thong and a smile. Smiley smile

It probably depends on how your dress is structured/fitted though. Mine was boned and very supportive, and had a bra-strap-type-support strap attached to the bodice on the inside. So it had the function of a bra without having to go buy one. You could maybe have one of those added to the inside of your dress, along with built-in cups, just as another option.

If the dress is structured - as long as it's fitted properly on your hips, that's where the weight rests and what keeps it up all night. I have big bubbies too (I'm an F cup) and I felt perfectly secure with no bra all night. Remember that once you're in YOUR dress which is fitted to your bodice, it will feel more secure/fitted than the store sample, which is probably stretched out from being tried on.

But if your dress is more flowy/unlined I guess I'd look for the smooth longline bra.

    Good luck. Smiley smile

I'm thinking along the lines of "a thong and a smile" too =) I just can't fiind anything that works well or that is comfortable and my dress feels fine without one (I am DD).

I think Im gonna go with those stickies, the backless strapless bras just for a little extra support but Im concerned about putting more layers on bc Im an August bride and the ceremony is outside, I dont wanna sweat any more than I have too! lol

My dress had a zipper back too, it was fitted to my hips and then flared out just under the booty. When you say A-line does it actually not rest on your hips at all? Do you have a pic of the dress?

Not trying to talk you out of wearing a bra if you really want to wear one. Just saying, once things are fitted it's surprising how many times people really don't need anything. A good seamstress is like a magician - those ladies can sew in cups and do all sorts of magical things. Smiley smile

I find longline bras uncomfortable when sitting down, so i plan to wear a strapless bra and high-waisted spanx.

I didn't wear anything except for my panties. I was very comfortable (also with big boobs...DDD). I found when my dress was tailored, my concerns about the girls disappeared. I did have cups sewn in.

My dress was also an A line, but it did have some structure on the inside of the gown that really helped. I also did have straps, but they didn't really help keep the dress up, in reality.
